Barclaycard, called to ask for a payment to be made on Good Friday, Yesterday and today Easter Sunday:mad:  not after me this time, they seem to have finally got the message, they are after the OH now. She is going through setting up an IVA but due to delays with Halifax taking almost 2 weeks to provide a balance of her loan and poor communication from her IVA company this has now been dragging on for about 7 weeks and still no proposal written.

So anyway back to Barclaycard, OH's IVA company has written to all her creditors to let them know she is looking at an iva and that they will be contacted with the proposal in due course and of course the only company who reckon they know nothing about it is Barclaycard  , yet OH has told them on many an occasion, infact yesterday she spoke to them and the guy said nothing on the system and said he wished whoever she kept speaking to would update the notes so everyone knew, yet the same today some idiot saying they know nothing about it and the system shows she has never told them   , after she explained the situation the person said if you dont make a payment today we will send you a default notice and its not for them to chase the IVA company, its for her to get them to chase them but how you supposed to let them know if the internal departments dont communicate. So now my OH is really worried about this default notice and possibility of ccj's and baliffs. We have a meeting with her IVA company on Wednesday to go through the proposal and i've told her that if barclaycard call again to get the name, address, fax and phone number of their department so that the IVA company can contact them direct. They also reckon that their call centres are all in the UK, which i think is bulls!!t to be honest as all we seem to get is people of Asian origin calling us:confused:

    Hi all,

I am so surprised that no one has tried to ring me on the Bank hols yet from creditors as they seem to think we are at home.

i did have a Window firm ring me 9am on good friday saying i had been pre-selected for a discount window package....wow i thought...wonderfull - not...i should have accepted and then defaulted and told them they had been per-selected as a new DEBT.

i know that doesnt help but just wanted to post it. Sometimes the bank muppets have nothing better to do on days like that - i apologise to anyone from any banks reading this who are not muppets...Sorry!

You obviously owe Barclaycard a big chunk of money - it's hardly suprising that they are going to chase you up for it, is it?

It makes perfect sense to phone people on a bank holiday - they are more likely to be in!

It's not their fault if your IVA company is incompetent. I am sure that they are always being told that a debtor is in the process of setting up an IVA - purely as a delaying tactic. They probably think that you are just stringing them along.

Ultimately, if you owe money you have to accept that your creditors are going to use every channel open to them within the law to get you to pay up.

I think your gripe is with the IVA outfit, not Barclaycard.

Melanie Giles of gilesjones, OH researched IVA companies before she decided to go with them, they seemed to have alot of good testimonials and reviews. We have been very disappointed with the poor communication from her staff, one person will say once we have so and so that is all we need to do the proposal, then OH will contact them after say a week to see how its going to be told by someone else that they are waiting for something else, this has now happened several times that OH has found out they need extra paperwork but only when she has contacted them. She was told 2 weeks ago that they had everything for the proposal to be written and she would receive it in 7 to 10 days, so she contacted them after 7 days to see if it had been posted only to be told they were waiting for something else which OH had sent in a good 4 weeks ago so she faxed a new copy over and was then told they now had everything but it would now take a good 3 weeks for the proposal to be written. OH is so peed off so she wrote a complaint letter to then be told that she needs to meet the IP next week to sort the proposal out, so real poor communication and almost seems as if the staff dont know what they are doing.

She doesnt actually owe them that much.

Barclaycard were the same with me when i went BR, i gave them my BR order details (due to them still chasing several weeks after my court date) but they refused to take the OR's details as not for them to contact the OR, it was for the OR to contact them, which i knew he had already done and i had had letters from some of my other creditors acknowledging receipt of the communication. Also the staff at Barclaycard keep saying no notes on her account to say they have been informed by either her IVA company or herself which definitely isnt true on OH's side, saying that a couple of her other creditors still phone even though they admit they have details on the system showing they have received communication from her IVA company but they just seem to choose to ignore it.

    Hi

Just a quickie to say the possibility of CCJ and bailiffs shouldn't worry you both; they take AAAAGES.........
(for example, I had a visit about three weeks ago from a bailiff who had with him a warrant of execution dated 19 Dec which was for a CCJ - that I ignored but probably should have defended to give myself more time - that was claimed/issued on 14 November). OK, so it's not nice or clever to do what I did but those timings should indicate that you will have loads of time to sort this out with the IVA company before anything official happens from Barclaycard.

From my own experience, Barclaycard (and especially their DCA: Mercers) were one of the worst for accepting the situation when I'd gone BR. They rang pretty much daily for about 7-10 days and I would have to go through the whole thing every time....BR number, court, OR name & address etc..... and each time they would tell me "there's nothing on the system Mrs Scarlett".......

I do think they've finally got the message now because they haven't rung for a week.

Oh and fwiw, I owed them the enormous amount of £500 - hardly a "big chunk of money" by anyone's standards ;) They probably spent more than that on the phone calls.
You can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that :p

I had a similar problem with Lloyds TSB - Although I haven't filed for an IVA or BR yet, as I don't feel that I am in that much debt, I owe Llyods over a grand on a Mastercard. They rang, we arranged (rather amicably - At the time I was v. impressed!) to pay the minimum payment each month and in the mean time interest and charges would stop so that the balance would go down. Great, or so I thought!

The next day I got a call for Lloyds! Could I make payment? No, and I explained the conversation I had the previous day. No record of this conversation, so a similar agreement was made. The next day, repeat procedure. This went on for about a week - Both at home and at work, several times a day.

In the end I threatened them with harassment - They haven't called back since!

In regards to your OH's IVA,i had similar problems before bc was decided. I contacted a company and we were told that hubby and i could do a joint IVA(later told by someone else, these had been stopped a while before) so filled in all the forms. Sent off all the ness paperwork. Waited and waited, nothing happened so i rang them. They wanted more documents. Sent those and again waited. Rang again and were told OH could not do IVA due to insufficient debt,as it has to be over £15,000!!!. They then continued with mine, a wk or so later i was told i had insufficient income for my level of debt so bc was my only option. I never ever wanted to go bc and thats why i chose the IVA route. But by the time they had come to their conclusions i had gone 7-8 wks without paying my creditors and was so far behind with everything that bc had to be my only way out. That said i am now glad i did go bc but all that messing about did my fruit in!. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I hope your OH gets it sorted soon. Dalip
