Because the word itself isn't actually an abbreviation.

I was very foolish when I was younger, but then there was no internet for sites like this so I knew no better... I'd have still probably been foolish though!
Have learned my lesson and now my cards are my servants rather than my master!
Best Regards,

Mine would have to be getting my first card in college, before I had any kind of stable employment (followed closely by the dreaded Cash Advance!)
Mine would be finding out the floor limits for some places I used to shop at and then going back and buying stuff knowing they wouldn't phone for an authorisation - so I'd go way over limit. This was in the early 90's - don't remember getting stung for overlimit fees back then.
More recently it was paying off a card with a balance transfer and then going on to max out the card again!0 -

That's an incredible dedication to getting into large amounts of unapproved debt. My hat is off...

I know. I'm not proud of what I did, I've got an impulsive streak that I can't shake off.0 -
I personally do not make mistakes only errors of judgement and even then I treat it as challenge not a problem.0

I think the crucial thing to remember here is that if you do make a mistake (or an error of judgement in Mable's case), then you need to work out a prompt solution to put you back on track minimizing any losses. Sometimes even you can turn a "mistake" into something more positive. Just don't let it get you down, move on and if it works out go for a beer :beer:0
