Your #1 Credit Card Mistake
Comments

Managed to run up £20,000 on credit cards as was using them for everyday living & more, for about 3 years, my own stupidity, as even when we went down to one wage after kids, lived in bubble world thinking we still had 2 wages, so my own fault, I'll admit, but once trapped in the debt cycle, it's very hard to get out & credit cards are to easily available to plonkers like me!
Nearly cleared the debt now, & know I've learnt my lesson, will only be keeping a credit card for severe emergencys & because I hope to be able to have a lovely holiday at some point to USA, paid for by saving! where you really need a credit card, for this though I'll be applying for a Nationwide cardComping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

Now you've come out the other side, would stoozing be too much temptation for you? I'm responsibly up to my armpits in "debt" on stoozed credit cards and it's making me a tidy sum of interest each month. It proves the old adage that it's easier to get debt when you don't need it.
If you can be drawn to the dark side, look at the Virgin Money card as a first easy stooze
I think I will go have a look at the Stoozing forum!0 -
Provided you take control of the credit card and not allow it to control you they are fantastic. However there are so many very, very stupid people out there that spend to the limit and blame everyone else for not being able to pay the amount back.
Credit cards are fine its only some of the idiots that have them that cause the problem.0 -

Atheism will prevail along with common sense one day...:TSince when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
My biggest mistake was a classic one - did a 0% Balance Transfer on my first stooze, some 10 years ago.
Then got the offer giving freebies if I spend on the card - oh great, lets use it for the shopping. Then this purchase balance got trapped and ended up accruing interest.
I solved it quite quickly, by getting another 0% card and transferring the lot over, but a lesson learnt - and one that still crops up on this site regularly.0 -
My biggest mistake is applying for too many cards in one day.0

Why was that a mistake? Unless you had no chance of getting any of them?
I've found that its the best thing to do to ensure I get the cards. Less likely to get the cards if the applications are spaced out as the card companies can see the available credit as well as the searches for the previous ones. Do 5 or 6 applications at once and all that is seen is the previouis searches.
