Arr, thank you for all your positive feedback, really appreciate it
You think people you know are just being nice to you, don't you!?
My friends sister put pictures of it on her myspace and I was like, wow...did I make that! It looked really good, totally different colour to my one's? I can't take pics, I'm awful :P
I think I will have to invest in some styrofoam, my waist could not take 'practise' cakes lol!
Thanks for the vote of confidence guys!!!

Thank you for all your lovely comments

I am actually considering making them to sell, this is only my fifth decorated cake and I find it hard to put a price on them....
Why not ask a few cake shops/bakers locally (or look on the internet) how much they would charge for a cake like the ones' you have done, then price accordingly?
That looks gorgeous - do you do wedding cakes?0 -
Hi floss, thank you

I have looked locally and on the internet and I'm sure they just make the prices up! One similar cake was £120.00!!! I have since found an ITNG on the internet similar to my one, but only with Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy on and it's £180.00?? How can they justify those prices :S
My auntie has asked me to make her wedding cake, but that's next year. I have made a few flowers; calla lillies, wedding lillies, roses and little 'fill in' type flowers. I really need to invest in the styrofoam cakes because they don't play havoc with your hips!
I am making two christening cakes for my friend and her sister at their joint christening, but that isn't until August.
A friend from school has asked for a HSM or Hannah Montana cake. I have a load of idea's, just got to start putting them into practise!:happyhear We are not put on this earth for ourselves, but are placed here for each other.

Hi specialK, these are some sites I like to [STRIKE]steal ideas from[/STRIKE] admire cakes on...
http://www.thecakefairy.co.uk/index.html
http://cupcakeblog.com/
http://bakerella.blogspot.com/ (I adore her bunny cupcakes!)
Only the top one sells I think and her prices are a lot like the ones you quoted which seems so much to me! I couldn't bring myself to pay that much for a birthday cake, wedding yes, birthday no.
How long did it take you to make the cake? You'd need to work that out and then decide how much you want to pay yourself per hour. As well as the ingredients. Don't underprice yourself though hun, that really is a lush cake! Can't wait to see your next creation
Oh that second link has some really unusual flavour ideas, that might be an idea to make your cakes extra special

Thanks for these links Good Fairy! (I will blame you when I am sat looking at this screen at 3am
)
I know, I'm the same, a big event, no problem, but a birthday, I could not do it.
I keep meaning to put my idea's into practise but never find the time
I am too scared to take any orders yet, I want wait until I have Health and Safety out etc and do it properly.
I really want to do a few cupcake ones, I'll end up doing one for me and the kids (naughty, naughty!)
I'm just painting atm so I can use my spare time for playing with the icing
