Of late, each seems that whenever I surf, whichever site, I either get "timed out" or if a site does appear, (such as webuser), when I clic on a link the page starts to arrive and the blue scroll bar at the bottom stops an eigth of an inch away and I have to wait about 15 seconds. Why is this? what if anything have I done?.
I seem to be switching from IE to FF to see which is giving a better result. I am on XP

sounds like your isp is mucking aboutNothing to see here, move along.0

Actually my first thought is that it might be my ISP (talktalk). As for the second reply, ugh, that sounds complicated to me.
We are away from Tues, so I might decide to see what it's like when we return, if it is TT, then it might have resolved itself by then. I'm reluctant to start a process of clicking before I go, in case I muck it up altogether. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. That's something I haven't done before. It says that my download speed was 2172 and upload 357
I hope you appreciate that dosen't mean anything to this old duffer.
Oh, and we will be going out soon for an hour, but will log-in on our return. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Try resetting I.E.
To do this go to Tools (right hand side of screen), click on Internet Options then on Advanced. At the bottom of this page it will say reset if your I.E. is starting to get into an unmanagable state.Always looking for a bargain and to help0 -
This wont do anything so not worth doing.
Hello Aknot.
MSE is a website that's here to help people so when a fellow poster puts up a suggestion please do not dismiss it the way you have done as I believe that's not in the spirit of what this site is about.
Many thanks.

Oh dear, what have I started?. Aside from that with all well meaning advice, when you say follow the instructions as before, do you mean this:-
Edit: also maybe worth flushing the dns cache, start, run, type cmd, hit ok, then type, ipconfig /flushdns then tap enter and wait for result, then type ipconfig /release and wait for disconnection then ipconfig /renew and wait for reconnection
if so, then I am a scardy cat. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Now we have a problem, or do we?.
When we came home, before booting up, I removed the cables from the router and replaced them. I came to this site first, read through and posted. Then I followed through my usual route of favourite sites where I'd been trying to establish connections all morning. On WebUser particularly I hadn't been able to provide one page from any of their links without waiting. On other sites i was being timed out.
I have now visited 21 sites, tried some of the links and guess what, dare I say it, no problems at all.
So, should I be more patient in the future?. That's easy to say "yes", but this has been going on now for 2/3 weeks. Could it have been due to the cables? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I think its likely to be TalkTalk. Now we have a problem, or do we?.

I've seen many complaints on the internet very similar to yours regarding TalkTalk recently.
You could try tweaking your MTU as per ......

I may be repeating myself here, but it was suggested it might be my ISP long before I'd uttered it was TTThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I was mainly posting to provide the link to a forum dedicated to talktalk users and a post that was specifically made to help TT users solve their issues by a very knowledgeable person.
That said the tweaks won't do much if its an overloaded network causing your problems.0
