Index Tracker - Should I Top Up ISA Allowance?

Happy Easter To All!

Have about £2k balance left to use by 5th April on my ISA UK Index Tracker. Question is, should I do it given the recent performance of the FTSE? I know it is a long term investment but I would like your views pls?

Cheers

If you dont mind going full into a medium/high risk area at 100% (eggs all in one basket) then you can. However, diversification should really be taking place so I would put 2x£1000 into different funds and sectors.
given the recent performance of the FTSE?

The fact it has gone down 20% means its 20% cheaper to buy than the high point. Waiting for it to go back up 30% means you miss out. Of course, it could go down more. If you dont accept the risk then use lower risk funds.

Why are you only looking at a UK index tracker? What about a global growth fund or an absolute return fund like BlackRock UK Absolute Alpha?

If you don't have those options you might want to put the money into the ISA now and immediately ask a fund supermarket like Hargreaves Landsown to transfer the ISA to them so that you can get a broader range of investment options.

So top up by the £2k and then move it to a fund supermarket?

desisaver, yes, that's the way that's most likely to ensure that the allowance is used this year.

The main transfer delay will be how long it takes your current provider to do the transfer - HL are very fast in my experience, so the bottleneck isn't likely to be on their side.
