    Hi,

Invest in a jug blender, in the kitchen it will be be the best £20 you'll ever spend. Don't bother with a stick/wand blender as they don't achieve the same results.

The easiest soup I know how to make is Roast Tomato soup.

Approx 2lb of 2nd class tomatoes in a roasting tray, into the oven on a moderatly high heat with a good glug of olive oil & a pinch of sea salt.

Cook until all of the tomatoes have collapsed & started to colour.

Blend, adjust seasoning, pass through a sieve, chinoise or conical strainer & serve.
If re-heating at a later stage, don't boil as this will alter the taste.

I also have a recipe for Celeriac & Parmesan soup from one of the countries top restaurants, PM me if you would like it. If there is a high enough demand I'll post it on myspace.com/norfolkinchefs - blog section.

Why is it that I can never get my soup to taste like my folks ?

I'm sure this has been done before but I thought starting a soup thread would be a good idea. I'm looking for some of the traditional soup recipes like lentil, pea and ham, leek and potato etc to try out on the family. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

well, I sort of invented one the other day. I bought a celeriac for 5p from the whoops shelf so made soup with it- sauted about 2 medium onions and 3 cloves of garlic, once soft then added cubes of celeriac and sauted for a few more mins then added 3 spuds, 4 carrots and enough hot water to cover plus 3 chicken stock cubes- simmered til the veg was soft then blitzed with a stick and seasoned, gorgeous!

    Hi All,
We had roast chicken for dinner tonight and now I have the stock in the slow cooker overnight.
I have tried a few times to make soup from it but it always turns out bland and tasteless???? What am I doing wrong?
I hear people say you can't beat HM soup but tinned is always so much nicer than anything I have ever attempted. :o
I usually eat half a bowl and then bin the rest.

Please, please, please give me a foolproof soup recipe - any flavour except chicken and sweetcorn as I've tried that one before.....

I am grocery shopping in the morning so can buy any veg, etc then.
Oh and a recipe that will freeze would be handy too please.

    Many thanks for your help.

    hi,
I make a bung it all in soup! Usually containing carrots, turnips, potatoes and lentils for definate and anything else vegie wise left in the fridge. If you fell your soups tasteless add a sachet of Boquet garni, you will find this easily in any herb and spice section of a supermarket. You could always add stock cubes too to add more flavour. If you like chunky soup leave veggies whole.I prefer to blend mine but as I add loads of lentils its always as thich as tinned soup but more yummy.
    I hope you have success.
lost my way but now I'm back ! roll on 2013
