Help!! Hyperactive dog is driving me mad.

Is he always a bit hyper? Or just today? What do you feed him on? Have you changed it recently? What breed of dog is he, and how old?
Bachs Rescue Remedy works a treat with my 2 on bonfire night, and also when we brought a new baby home we tried a nutritional supplement called Stay Calm, worked a treat with all the visitors to the house, certainly didn't knock them out just took the edge off things, in fact we hardly noticed it working.... Until we stopped using it!0 -
If it is not happening all the time, and seems to be his feet upsetting him, then it sounds similar to our doglet. With us it seemed to happen in snow/slush, or after a long muddy walk. We'd get back in, dry her off, and then she'd do the 'wall of death', combined with frantic digging on the sofa and equally frantic paw chewing. I wondered whether it was the paws being wet for a while, and then drying quite quickly, combined with the salt/grit IYSWIM. Anyway, I bought some Shaw's Paw Wax, which you put on before you walk, and protects the paws and it seems to do the trick."No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin0

Just to update: he's now back to his normal self :T . He is quite a hyper dog anyway, the vet couldn't believe it as pugs are supposed to be quite laid back apparently  . He's just in his mischievous mood running around the place stealing all the socks I have just washed and folded  .
I do think it had something to do with the snow and wet weather but I will try and get some paw wax and bachs remedy for next time. I have a labrador x springer, he's as mad as a hatter. 6 mile walk (with him doing much more as he runs ahead then runs back, runs around etc) and he'd still come home and jump over the 6ft garden fence into the field behind the house and run round some more. Crackers but a softie and we love him
we tried everything, making sure his food has no added colours etc, had the snip done, vet just said accept he's always going to be like this :rotfl: he enjoys every walk as if it's his last and I have never known him to even show any signs of being tired out. He follows me everywhere I go to the point if I step back I step on him.
Had never thought of using Bachs for the dogs, I use it all the time, he's also a softie when it comes to fireworks etc so might try that this year with him.One day I might be more organised...........

Hi just thought I'd mention that paw licking can be an obsessive compulsive behaviour seen in very hyperactive dogs that are difficult to tire out, or very stressed dogs. Sometimes boredom brings it on I believe. So the paw licking could well have been a symptom of the hyperactivity, not the other way around . . . Just a thought.

Thanks, he did the same this year when it snowed. I think it might be something that irritates his paws, maybe the salt/grit on the roads.Virgin CC=£2652, Next= [STRIKE]£102.88,[/STRIKE] Very=£475.60, Natwest=£800, Sainsburys CC=£1777.02, Lloyds CC=£498.29, Lloyds Loan= £13,946.18, Car=£4000Total = [STRIKE]£26,147.23[/STRIKE] £23,849.09:eek:0
