I'm looking for some good gold wedding rings and am off to Olu Deniz in Turker in September. Can anyone offer any advice? I've heard gold is cheaper in Turkey. Any jewellers in Olu Deniz?

Dont know how helpful this is but we used a jeweller in Hisaronu, which if you dont know is a short Dolmus ride up from Olu Deniz. We found they were cheaper than the jewellers in Olu.
It was a couple of years ago and I cant remember the name of the one I used, it was on the main road and began with an E. Sorry I've got a terrible memory but I'll ask OH when he comes in
They were really good when we bought my engagement ring from them. I told him the mount I wanted and then he showed me loads of loose diamonds and I got to select which ones I wanted. He even let me take them outside to see the clarity in the daylight. I had done my research and knew what i was looking for. Paid a deposit there at lunchtime my OH picked it up at about 5pm.
The result was a beautiful ring of great quality exactly how I wanted it at about 1/2 the price in UK.
Most jewellers in Turkey will bend over backwards to try to get a sale and all of the ones I have checked out have the brochures for the main uk jewellers (Goldsmiths, Ernest Jones etc.)
I would do your homework and choose your style and check prices in the UK, then you know exactly where you stand for haggling a good price.

Thank you very much. As long as I know there are jewellers in the area thats great. If you're able to remember the name that would also be great0

If your buying a diamond ensure you get a certificate which includes the weight & clarity. Pay by credit card & get the stone authnticated when you return to the UK.No Links in Signatures by Site Rules - MSE Forum Team 20

Any tax implications?
When I bought carpets in Turkey I always got receipts for about half what I had actually paid, in case Customs stopped me. I also got a second set of receipts for double what I had paid, in case I needed to claim on insurance. I then got the two sets of receipts muddled up...0 -
Just looking at decent plain gold bands, possibly with a pattern but thanks for the advice about authentication.
Hadn't really thought about tax... Cheers0 -
Just seen this post.
My sister got a diamond solitare made for her by ROYALE, in Olu.
Hes in the main middle street.
No hard sell & silly quotes to start, said she had a budget of £300 to £350 what could she get.
All the others start being silly with prices & want to spend an hour haggling.
He showed her loads of rings, she said I want the band like this one, the mount like that, the setting like that & she picked the diamond.
Its really lovely & a bargain price for what it is.0 -
Thank you very much, I'm not going untill September but this is giving me a good starting point. Cheers...0

Hi Phil
I cant remember the name of the place I used in Hisaronu, I've been looking everywhere and cant find the receipt he gave me and OH is as much use as a limp lettuce so he cant remember either
What I can remember is that it begins with an E and is a turkish girls name ( he told me it was named after his daughter). Sorry I cant be any more help, but like I said if you do your homework before you go and have a good idea of Uk prices it will give you a good idea of any that might be trying to rip you off."Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye" - Miss Piggy0 -
Thanks again0

OOOOhhh my friend and I had so much fun in a jewellers in Hisaronu several years ago. Just window shopping after dinner and the salesman came out, of course, and insisted we come in and try rings on for fun. Probably thought he might pull off a sale, but we enjoyed wearing some VERY  expensive rings if only for a few moments. Saying that, they were much bettter priced than here!!! I also have a friend who has bought several pieces of gold that were valued here way above what she paid in Turkey. Have Fun!!!:beer:0
