I have changed the router to ATM and I am still online so that's fine, I tried the ps3 but still no joy.
I also tried the ps3 with the ethernet cable plugged into it and it detected it straight away, found the router, ip address the lot, took the ethernet cable out to try wireless and back to usual, can't connect.
It's driving me mad!!0 -

Thanks Ice I went into the router settings and there is nothing under WIRELESS STATION ACCESS LIST SETUP
so I couldn't tick.
There is an option to add new station manually which requires the DEVICE NAME and MAC ADDRESS, should I try putting the ps3 in there?
Thanks

I have a netgear router also, and ended up turning of security and instead put in MAC filtering so only my laptop, Wii, N95 and PS3 could connect to it.0

in here I have the

When you set-up your PS3 it should show-up under
AVAILABLE WIRELESS STATIONS
so you click on ADD
then it will appear on the trusted wireless stations above
click apply...

Thanks Ice, I did take your advice from post#33 and generated a WEP KEY of 26 characters. Hey presto this worked a treat.
Thing is though, (just to complicate things). I notice on your last post that the router should be on PPPoA (PPP over ATM)
mine says PPPoE (PPP over ETHERNET)
Also the multiplexing method should be VC-BASED
mine says LLC-BASED
Also even though we played the ps3 wirelessly all night and my son is playing it now, it still isn't showing on the WIRELESS STATION ACCESS LIST
Do I need to bother with any of these issues now since I am (at long last)connected, or should I still make the changes?
Thanks again

it just makes it so only things you want online go online and not everyone else...like the bloke sat outside on his laptop in his car...
but if it works then hey why change things...if your happy with this then go for it...glad I could help... :)it could also depend on which ISP you have and also which area you live in...keep an eye on who's sat outside and if anyone jumps on your BB then just kick them off...using the access list...the router automatically picks up your settings with your ISP (I think) so if thats what its set to then leave it at that...
