Co-op price hike

Options
Not impressed with my local co-op!

At the end of February they had their meatballs at 1.99 a pack, buy one get one free. I thought I would give them a try and they were lovely so went back the next day to get some more. Unfortunately they were sold out and was told some more would be coming in the next day.

Went in the next day and they were still 1.99 a pack but the offer was now 2 for 3.00. Not so much of a bargain but my kids loved em so I bought more (and some for a friend).

Any hooo, went back in last week to get some more and they are now 2 for 3.50 and the individual pack price has shot up to 2.29 a packet!!

Tut or what?! lol

so what do you class as a vent? Would really like to know cos I always thought that to vent was 'to sound off on a topic that annoys you'. (That's my own definition btw). the Co-op putting it's prices up suddenly annoys the OP so they should have the right to vent about it on here shouldn't they? Or is this not a free country anymore?

(on second thoughts... having read some of the threads recently, maybe it isn't?)

I think the OP is right, 2 price rises in as many months is totally worthy of a vent...

All supermarkets do this. New lines are the most subject.

Start it off cheap. Get people to like the product and undercut the market leader. Grab a share of the market and then start hiking the price.

    Its a bit obvious.

When the OP bought they where on BOGOF which is a short term deal. Once the offer had ended they changed the deal what the problem

I am not sure where the OP has been living over the last few months but everything meat, bread and milk prices have all been rising and it the not the farmers seeing it either.

Most people will go why has meat gone up  umm because there feed includes grain. Grain has gone up because of bad harvests, it is the same for root veggies such as potatoes, a 25Kg bag is now £7 last year or the year before it would have been £5 a bag.

I think the British public have to get use to higher food prices as we have had cheap food for so long. Yes it will hit the poorer people in society. But prices rises all always do be it petrol, gas, electric and council tax.

  • Some people have soooooo missed the point of my thread! tut!

It was a moan up about the price in general going up from 1.99 to 2.29 in a matter of a few days.

It peed me off and I had a moan on here (hence the VENT board)

I aint stoopid and realise prices go up but this peed me off cos feeding 5 kids and 2 adults on a budget is tough enough as it is. I found something EVERYONE in the house likes and instead of being a not bad price it has turned into a "how much?" price.

Why can't people have a moan (a reasonable moan at that) without the nasty nit pickers jumping on board?

So much of it goes on here; if you can't say something nice it's better to say nothing at all.

And thank you to the posters who understood what my post was about x

Ordinarily I would but for the last few months have been working 11 hour days (plus 2 hours driving) so have to do quick and easy dinners.

My kids dont eat stuff like burgers and fishfingers etc (plus when cooking for 7 far too expensive and time consuming) so these meatballs were a godsend, just whip up an onion and tomato sauce with plenty of herbs and garlic, brown the meatballs off and chuck em in a casserole; set oven timer and time I get home just need to cook the pasta.
