Lets hope the more people who report this scam the better. I feel it's no longer about the money (although we do want it back) it's more about not letting these people getting away with it. We work hard for our cash and I object to some con merchant taking it from me under false pretences.
Feel better after that rant:D0 -
Yes, I know what you mean.
We finally got our receipt showing the refund onto our card today - one month after we returned the form with our card details etc. I'm like you tho, glad we finally got our money back, but still want to pursue it via Trading Standards, because I want to stop them ripping others off!0 -
Hi Josie
sent you the details.0 -
I too extended an advert , thinking it was with Autotrader. I wrote a letter of complaint and have had a reply saying they played back the conversation and at no time did anyone say they were from Autotrader. They read the terms of the business so fast that it is hard to understand exactly what was said, however before then i had already believed that i was speaking to autotrader,(they had already spoken to my husband who had asked them to call me, he had told me to expect a call from Autotrader, so he too thought he had a conversation with Autotrader and not Automartonline.
i have complained to the managing director and am waiting for a reply. I am normally careful when buying any services from compnaies ringing us at home, and normally always ask for something in writing,
We also paid £69.00 and when we checked another website, Automart (not sure if this is a different company to Automartonline), they do the same advert for £19.99.:mad:0 -
Sounds like they're still using the same tactics. We have written to the MD but as yet have had no response other than to say they have listened to the conversation! We are also careful about giving bank details etc but when you are deliberately misled it's a hard lesson to learn:mad:. Lets hope the more people that get in touch with trading standards the better and maybe we'll get a result!0

I re-advertised my car with the real Auto Trader again a couple of weeks ago and guess who rang me last week?!?   Automart Online!!
Boy, was I ready for them this time - I told them I'd been scammed by their company before and I couldn't believe they were still employing these tactics and to p*** off!
With hindsight almost wished I'd played along to try and get them to mis-sell me again and learn some more about their dodgy tactics, but was just so mad, I couldn't help myself!0 -
received a reply from Mr Holt this morning, refused to refund money and said he had listened to the tape recording and at no time did they say they were from Autotrader.
is there anything else i can do?0 -

Ask for a copy of the tape recording."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

The trouble is they do very quickly say they're from Automart Online and then more slowly say they're ringing about your advert in Auto Trader, so they're very clever in that they don't actually lie, just are very misleading.0
