There is time (13 days) but it'd be best to act sooner rather than later - read Martin's Top Cash ISAs article for all the details and best-buy accounts. Ask if you have any questions0

If the worst happens and the big interest players shut the door to new customers for this year, then don't worry just go to any high street bank still accepting ISA's for 07/08 even if it pays crap interest. Just make sure they don't charge to transfer the money and then come 6 April open a new one for the next year elsewhere who pay good interest and transfer the other over.0

Good advice from panther.
I don't leave it to the end of the year, so have never been in that position, but what panther says should work fine. (Much better to lose a bit on the interest front than to lose your whole allowance for the year!)
I think I'd go for 'not quite the best' rates if I could though, rather than c**p ones.;)Imprudent granting of credit is bound to prove just as ruinous to a bank as to any other merchant.

I opened the A&L Direct ISA yesterday (good friday). I got an automated email to say they have received the application and I will hear from them within 48 hours. Well just 4 mins later they send the congratulations email containing the ISA account number (probably processed so quick because we already have an A&L savings a/c). Within 7 days of the account being open you're allowed to make a deposit at a local branch, so I went down today to deposit the max 3k which is now showing when I login.

Ok, update. I have a dormatish barclays current account, but no online banking, so I went into my branch, with bank account details, id, national insurance number & I was told by two advisors that they couldn`t possibly open me account as I have run out of time.
Oh well, my fault for leaving it too late...
Thanks for all your help guys

- how about looking at the A&L Direct ISA paying 6.25% AER or the ICESAVE Easy Access ISA at 6.1% AER?
Or Nationwide Fixed Rate ISA if the funds wont be required for either one or 2 years and u have a branch local to u.

I notice a new Northern Rock Fixed ISA being launched tomorrow I have not researched the terms and conditions.0
