Help please - best currentaccount with online access

Options
Im about to kick my current bank into touch and am looking for guidance as to what might be the best current accounts around. Im not really to bothered about incentives or interest rates- more quality of service and ease of transfer/use/etc. I have overdraft facility if 1K which i rarely use and pay in about 3K per month.

Cheers

    ... or of this:

which bank offers best online banking facilities? (Merged)

I am a fan of Nationwide.
  • Yep I agree ....Nationwide

We have been with them for years......have our mortgage with them and all bills coming from flex account.

Very reasonable charges for agreed overdraft and money can be transferred/direct debits/standard orders set up very easily on line.
    Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £60

I'd have to say Nationwide too. Out of the three current accounts I have, this is my main one... its great... and I know i will never close it becuase its the best account i've had. Travel benefits of the debit and credit card, plus internet banking and branch service, are invaluable to me too.

I also vote for NW. The interest rate isnt the greatest but my balance is usually nil anyway with all my spare cash in the linked e-savings account which has been a consistently good payer. :)
I have seen others recommend First Direct and Smile- rarely does anyone else get a mention

    I like Smile.
  • Have to agree with the above. Given my last rant about smile (after hacking their ISA rates back more than the BoE cut) and my toying with the idea of Cahoot (I should've known not to even contemplate it - they needed emailing twice to get a credit agreement sent to me - useless) I have to say that I know which side my bread is buttered on. Smile's site is great. Everything you ever needed there for you at your fingertips. And brilliant customer service too. Send a message and you get a coherent reply which actually answers the question you sent them. Wonderful.

And I'm not an employee of theirs, or on commission :)

Was with Nationwide but, for what it's worth, they didn't match smile at all.

I have been with FIRST DIRECT 14 years and SMILE 4 years. Both excellent banks with superb customer service, easy to use and full functioning web sites with A+ Internet Banking. Pick one of these 2 banks and you won't go wrong. I recommend both highly!

  • I'd second that for smile! :)
