Cash Machine Just Kept My Card

Sorry guys just need to vent this.
Just got back from trying to get some food shopping in for over Easter. I tried to withdraw some cash using my Lloyds debit card at a cashpoint machine and as soon as I put my card in, before it even asked for my pin number, the screen started going beserk with loads of numbers appearing across the screen and saying things like it was doing a re-run and to press F2 for set up. Then the screen went blank and I never got my card back. I phoned the people responsible for the cashpoint (Abbey National) and they said the machine obviously didn't like my card. I then phoned my bank and they say there is nothing wrong with my account or card and it sounds to them like the machine was doing an automatic reboot.
Now I am left with no cash and have to wait until after easter for a new card and have had to use one of my credit cards to buy some food!

Yeah thanks guys. I'll have to try one of the main branches and see if any are open to get some cash out tomorrow, once I find my cheque book as I haven't used it for ages. It's just I had absolutely no food whatsoever in the cupboards today and needed some cash. Been working very long hours lately and only realised late last night it was Good Friday today. How sad is that!Posted by chuckley

Tut, tut, tut. It's a shame you can't read properly. I'd already said I'd telephoned my bank and they told me there is definitely nothing wrong with my card or account and it sounds to them like the cash machine had gone into an automatic timed reboot which apparently happens quite a lot.Posted by chuckley

Well with an attitude like that, I don't suppose you would, unless it happened to you that is.;)
Happy Easter everyone!!!!0 -

at the time it seems worse than it is!! it happened to me in opening hours at the bank using the cashpoint outside. i made a complete fool of myself in the bank and kept a queue of customers entertained. they would not give me my card back despite the fact they told me it was a machine error - i got hysterical as i needed petrol as i was working away the next day!! people were laughing and pointing - bank offered a credit advance on my credit card, i refused as fees involved - more hystryonics - eventually i ended up crying down my mobile (from the bank) to my mum, who told me to go round hers for tea and she would lend me money for petrol - she calmed me down and fed me and gave me money for petrol. my card was returned in 2 working days and i was able to pay her back. i just wish i had been a bit more dignified in the bank!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -

oh and BTW it has happened to me twice. once at a petrol station when it tried to give me my card back but it was 'stuck' and couldnt push it back out... most prolly a bend in the card. another time it was at another bank machine and the machine just swallowed my card for no reason I could see. but later that day the machine was closed off and a week or so later it was smashed in.0
