    Hi
There are a lot of files there.
It's impossible to just guess which one holds your piece of music.
Let someone else suggest a different method.

Ok embarrassment here, cos this is not usual.

I have done the DVD Shrink download/extract

The Simple DivX and the VDM do not appear to want to download for me. the Simple DivX just appears to run it comes up with a window to either run or save (tried both), and when I click on them, it says loading in the bottom lh corner, but does not show me a window for loading, tells me it has download and I cannot find it in my Downloads.
The VDM, comes up with the error, and I select allow file to download, and it runs, and then again nothing??

Should I be looking somewhere else for these files other than my Download files?

In DVD Decrypter select Mode - IFO and then select Stream Processing, you can then extract the audio as a seperate stream.

I have done the above, and then run it, and also repeated it just selecting audio when on the Stream Processing, but both just seem to give me video files, sorry guys I must be feeling very dumb today, what should I be looking for now?

    Thanks

Here's a guide for dvd decrypter, which should make things easier:
    http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/136/59/

If that doesn't work, you could consider using videolan and audacity though this relies upon you being able to playback a suitable .vob file and hearing the audio in order for audacity to record it. If you can do this already (hear the audio on your computer), audacity should be able to capture it. If it can't then you could have too many codecs on your computer so it's gotten confused as to which one to use.

It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

Thanks ABH - I have moved over to my laptop and am having a little more success. Using DVD Decrypter I have followed the guide to step 4, and have the audio file shown in Step 5. Do I need to download Goldwave referred to? Or is there something else I can use?

Assuming you've got your audio track, you shouldn't need to use goldwave as the guide seems to be ripping the whole audio track and using it as an mp3 disk to audio. IIRC you needed a part of the audio track you've ripped and want to use a sample of that for whatever. If you've got an ac3 audio track then you'll need an ac3 audio filter in order to listen to the audio: http://ac3filter.net/ install it and then, other than that you just need to open the file with audacity and it should present you with a bunch of peaks and troughs like the image above someone kindly posted.

It should then be a simple case of using the timeline feature at the bottom of the screen to move the cursor to where the audio you want to save out begins. When you find that point, simply put your cursor at the beginning and whilst holding down the left mouse button move to the right untill you have selected or highlighted all that you require, then within the program select Edit\Copy, then New a new timeline will open up below the first and you can paste the selected audio into that. Once done, select File\Save As... select .mp3 and once its done saving you should have a file type you can play with the piece of audio in you selected.
