What mustard did you use? Dried powder? Creamed stuff from a jar? English/Dijon?

Well you want something bland to counteract it, so I'd still go with milk, and a bit of sugar or honey to balance out any bitterness. Depending on how much longer it has to cook, you could add a raw peeled potato to soak up some of the 'heat.'

Fry off some onions and chuck in, ditto potatoes. You might end up having way more filling than usual, so you might have to stretch the meat as well.

I'd try half a banana, it takes the heat out of a too hot curry.

Think I'd be tempted to empty out half the sauce into a dish and freeze it for another day then water down what is left with more yoghurt etc.
One day I might be more organised...........
