For those who are mentioning the cost, neither Incapacity Benefit or DLA are means-tested so someone on them may well be able to afford to go to Australia.
Incapacity Benefit is not means tested, it is contribution based, but for someone claiming it it has to be their major income source. You can't work and claim IB unlike DLA where you can. Incapacity benefit is sort of means tested because if you have income other than DLA,which certainly will not count, but like an occupational pension then you will lose part of the IB0 -
When you don't turn up for the appointment (can't cancel the 2nd one) a form is sent out which you need to fill in with the reasons why you did not attend. That goes to the decision maker who decides if your benefit should be stopped or not. If it's stopped and you need to go back on it then you have to appeal the decision.
They strict at the first point - I had to go to appeal for missing my rearranged appointmet when I had an accident on the way in and couldn't continue on the way because I was in hospital for an xray on a broken wrist.0 -
Well, the choice is easy either claim the benefit and have the medical or forfeit the benefit and go on holiday. The medical people aren't t*ssers just your "friend".
I know how much a month in Oz costs because I went there when I was in work for a holiday - it ain't cheap.
If you can afford to spend a month in Oz then you shouldn't be claiming benefits. I know you say that incapacity benefit isnt means tested it is for people who genuinely can't work or who can only work limited hours - it isnt for dole scroungers who can't be bothered to get up off their backsides to get a job. Stop being lazy and get a job.
I could claim Incapacity Benefit and DLA but refuse to despite being disabled, I would much rather get a job than spend my life lazing about at home or on an Australian beach.
Sure its easy to fly back from Oz - the flight will be expensive but you can sit on the plane for 24hrs and then 24hrs back - easy peasy.
i can't believe this post got 2 thanks, but as guessed by the usual crew.
god what a world we live in today *explain* why ops friend is a t*sser
the trip was probably booked months before and medicals do sometimes only give a few weeks notice i know mine only gave 2 weeks.
you don't know the reason why op friend is incapacitated so you can't say he should get a job and stop being lazy, these comments irate me.:mad:0 -
donnalove, you're not very bright are you?
It is not the OP's friend, it is the OP. He is a serial troll.

You seem to have problem with some posters on here who are the ones who answer many questions, this seems rather unfair. The OP is a timewaster, have a look at some of their other posts.0 -

I dont really care whether op is a troll, a genuine person may seriously need answers to similar and all they are met with is childish answers if you no op is a troll then don't bite stay out the post.0 -

THERE REALLY IS NO NEED.0 -
Donna, i completely agree with Horaces post, nothing irate in his comments at all.
Some people are very proud not to need/ask the state for help and good on them, i guess this is what Horace was getting at. Others who sometimes dont need help, just take it and dont feel shame about doing so. (Those that choose not to work but sponge from the state)
I agree, benefits shouldn't fund such a lifestyle, they should be for basic survivial only. House, heating, bread and milk. Thats all that benefit payments should fund IMO.
The murder of the 15yr old girl in Goa is a prime example. How on earth did her mother manage to afford to take a family to Goa off of benefit money.
Beyond me.
BB is just fishing
Getting plenty of bites too

If anyone on Incapacity benefit is well enough to go on a long haul flight and enjoy a month long holiday they are well enough to work.0
