  • A month in Australia isnt cheap so you are obviously getting too much in benefits. As it has been said - benefit or holiday?
    Bring the medical forward?

How ? you don't need to be poor to get incapacity, thats the whole point, its non means tested. wish people on here could get over the fact you can get benefit and still have money. it's called working for a living and saving and then being entitled to your benefit coz you have paid into the system. unlike a lot of people who have never paid a penny in, yet claim evertything under the sun.

So are you really going to Australia for a month BB, or are you just trolling?

If you are going, does that mean we get rid of you for a month?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Adk them to bring it forward then.

For those who are mentioning the cost, neither Incapacity Benefit or DLA are means-tested so someone on them may well be able to afford to go to Australia.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

  • When were you informed of the medical?
Could it not have been re-arranged at earlier notice than under a week!?

Well, the choice is easy either claim the benefit and have the medical or forfeit the benefit and go on holiday. The medical people aren't t*ssers just your "friend".

I know how much a month in Oz costs because I went there when I was in work for a holiday - it ain't cheap.

If you can afford to spend a month in Oz then you shouldn't be claiming benefits. I know you say that incapacity benefit isnt means tested it is for people who genuinely can't work or who can only work limited hours - it isnt for dole scroungers who can't be bothered to get up off their backsides to get a job. Stop being lazy and get a job.

I could claim Incapacity Benefit and DLA but refuse to despite being disabled, I would much rather get a job than spend my life lazing about at home or on an Australian beach.

Sure its easy to fly back from Oz - the flight will be expensive but you can sit on the plane for 24hrs and then 24hrs back - easy peasy.
  • Well in that case you'll have to make the medical appointmrnt for as late as possible and fly back from OZ early......

There's no other real choice, is there?

How do you know the OP isn't genuinely sick/disabled? Not all conditions stop you having a holiday!

Although I think the point of this post is to wind us all up.
