i think that the sooner these come down in price or the big energy supplier start issuing them the better, as it would encourage us all to save energy thus reducing our carbon footprint and saving the planet (just a little)

Word of warning if you're thinking of buying one.

I think the OWL is a great idea and ordered one, but when it came it had a large clip to attach to electric cable into meter. Make sure you have enough cable exposed to clip on to - we didn't and had to send OWL back. There were plenty of warnings on the pack that this might happen, but don't remember it giving any info on length of cable required when I ordered on-line.

BTW I got my OWL - wasnt that impressed. Not sure how accurate it is as it gives different readings on different days yet the same electrical items were on at the time (no lights and just some appliances on standby). When I walked round the room going up to appliances and turning them on to see what power they use (like in the advert for OWL) only the large power eaters registered a change. This was quite interesting but I think overall it would have limited use - for me anyway. I have now looked at ways of reducing power usage overall with a few gadgets such as the intellipanel and the bye bye standby plugs. Would have done this anyway without the OWL. I would have one if it was free though - but surely it just uses more power tracking what other power you are using ??

If anybody is with Scottish & Southern energy (Im with Swalec) in South Wales, they will give you a wireless energy monitor for free if you switch to their "Betterplan" product, it doesnt cost any more than their standard tariff that i was on. The monitor is far better than the owl in so much that it gives a running total for 1day 7days 30days plus an instant readout of you power usage, there is also a clock and a 3 bar graph which shows your energy usage for DAY EVENING & NIGHT
    Hope this helps someone
