Bought TV in Comet then they dropped the price...!

Hi all,
Not sure if this has been covered in another thread - apologies if it has (and someone point me in the right direction please!).
I bought a Sony 40" LCD TV (model KDL40D3500) in Comet on 29/2/08, for the princely sum of £999.99. I have today (20/3/08) seen the identical set now advertised with the same retailer for £799.99...
GRRR!!!
Now, I was under the impression that if an item gets reduced within a certain time afer purchase, the purchaser can claim the difference off the retailer. Is this true? If so, am I within whatever timeframe it is?
Any advice much appreciated - obviously £200 would be a rather decent amount of cash to get back!
Cheers,
Steve.

no, you wanted the tv at that price at that time, you got it, if it went up by £200 would you go pay them the extra
obviously its annoying but theres nothing you can do about it, anything they do will be a gesture of goodwill and theres no reason why they are likely to do it for youYes Your Dukeiness0 -
I have a similar issue to the OP... my box of Frosties was £1.89 when I bought them 20 days ago... they are only £1 now... can I ask Tesco for the difference?
:wall:0 -
I'm taking it you've set the tv up and used it???
I know Currys will refund the difference if price changes within 7 days I'd assume Comet would be similar0 -
I'm afraid the period of time is 14 days -

i hate it when im at work and there is a sale due tomorrow, or one finished the day before and they could have bought what they are buying now for half the price if they came in the day before!
Just gotta move on, everything we buy we probably could have got for cheaper at some point anyway. Maybe in future wait for the sales, easter usually is qutie a saley time too.0 -

Does this not only apply if you see it in another retailer though? not if they themselves reduce the item? (thats a question btw, not picking bones lol)0 -

You're quite right, but i was going on the assumption that as the price had dropped, other retailers would have followed suit and it could be found cheaper elsewhere.
Though, no disrespect to the op, Comet is not the cheapest retailer to purchase items from.0 -
Comet can be the cheapest at times-its up to you to "Google" round and find the best price (dont forget quidco) added bonus that if you fairly near a Comet, you can pick up from branch.0

If you're really desperate for the £200 ( I know I would be!), check if they have a 28 day no quibble return policy, and if you can afford it, buy the cheaper one, then return it using the £999.99 receipt!
