Thank you Bluefleur
for your comments, well we must try and encourage, im also going to set her up saving herself in the credit union, and once she can see the amount growing, and its a bit harder to get the ready cash, i mean easier to get to a atm then visit the credit union to arrange any withdrawerals if you need, less tempting to spend. This might be a lesson for her learn and not adopt any of my bad habits, really trying to change though, lots of info here found that wished i knew a few years back.
Well, our trials are what makes us,so guess, hope to come out of all of this much wiser and happier.
Have a fun day ciao MAZ

I read Martin's 3 lessons book yesterday, one of the lessons being that the company is not your friend - my new mantra. Well today I was overcharged 70p in Hobbycraft for 2m of ribbon extra.
I went straight back to the cash desk to sort it out. The supervisor was amazed I wanted it back saying that it is only 70p, I said 'yes, but it is my 70p' Normally I would have got in the car and not have given it a second thought - I'm getting worried about myself!
That's shockingly rude and cheeky of her. I'm with Painted Lady - why not ask for £1.40 back, and point out, 'Well, it's only an extra 70p...'
I complain for anything over about 15p. Beyond that I value my time more.
I will say that Sainsbury's make these little 'mistakes' all the blimming time. To the point where you have to wonder... Also got a BOGOF of jars of olives from them a few weeks back. When I got them home and opened one they had mould on.0 -
Maybe we should start a roll, who wants to be an extreme debt free wannabe???
If we take care of the pennies, the pounds take care of themselves right? Thanks for the advice Martin! :money:Member no. 920 - Proud to be dealing with our debts0 -
Ive thought of another story. Bought some earrings in primark reduced to 50p. Came up on till as £1.50. Supervisor went to check price, all others were full price but the ones i had clearly stated 50p. the sa said its only £1:rolleyes: Me: Yes but it says 50p so i should be charged 50p! I also said £1 may not be much to her but it is to other people! Then to add insult to injury she went to give me my change and as i went to take it she pulled her hand back and said i gave her £10, not £20 didnt i? Me: No, i definetely gave you £20 about 3 seconds ago:rolleyes: No, im sure it was £10....anyway she eventually gave me my change:rolleyes:
Me: Im not trying to defraud you:rolleyes:
Her: I didnt mean that.....well what else could you have meant when you kept on insisting id only given you £10, basically calling me a liar?
Sorry for the rant:o'They only had one cow!'0 -

that's really appalling. what branch of primark? just so we can all boycott it...
you have to wonder if some retail staff get off on little power trips, little Hitlers. (yes i know it works both ways).0 -
We just retired early, and we have no debt. But I have always been like this, what is mine is mine, DH has learnt to walk away, so maybe that is why we have no debt:rolleyes: .
But on the other hand my son calls me tight! But then I explain me being tight got him through uni:D

I would have demanded a till check if I hadn't got the cash from Primark, on a busy Saturday, I do not think so.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
If you are overcharged in Asda and inform the customer service desk you get given the correct change AND a £2.00 gift card. If you are charged for an item twice in Tesco or the multi-save does not show up you are given the item(s) for free0
