This is the first site that came up on my search:
https://www.thefreesite.com/Free_Software/HTML_freeware/
Not tried any of them myself.
Should be plenty about though.0 -
if you're starting out, learn to code html in notepad, it's free and you'll learn much more than using some wysiwyg editor. there are lots of guides on the net telling you how, or have a look at some sites you like and right-click > "view source" to get the idea of how they work!0

i use https://www.freewebs.com the website creator is a piece of p*** easy as anything!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

You could use front page express. It is a free add on with early versions of IE. A search on google should get you a copy to download.
You could also use Serif
you will get links for this and some other usefull legaly free stuff at http://www.budgetflyer.rr7.co.uk/freesoftware.htm0 -

I'd definitely stick to notepad until you become more proficient in HTML.. its an easy language to pick up, especially considering the amount of documentation and how readily available html source code is.
As you get better, you can dabble with other technologies like PHP etc.
Another option is to sign up to a unix shell account, e.g http://www.freeshell.org/index.cgi?
This way, you can edit the live html files (using VI or whatever) and view the changes straightaway, not needing to constantly upload files etc..
Also, most unix servers will handle more than just HTML.. and tend to be very simple to upgrade to allow database access etc.Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication - Leonardo Da Vinci0 -

I wouldnt.
Id use that Free NVU wysiwyg programme or something similar (and free!)
Load up a FREE template and alter it to suit.
Id then look at the source code and identify bits Id written, how links, tables are coded etc and that way you can see the tags and what effect they have on the finished product.
A search on google for "FREE WEBSITE TEMPLATES" should sort you out.
some good ones can be had at

NVU is pretty good - not bloated really..
I still think you should learn HTML - it's worth it.0 -
If this is intended to be a professional website then its advisable that you grasp the basic concepts of the language before you start playing with wysiwyg editors.
Admittedly, these editors are very simple to use.. stick a button here, a drop down menu there.. but if you want to fine tune or tweak any of their pre-designed components, you will need to understand the underlying concept of HTML or whatever language you're using.
Hard coding the entire site may seem a little extreme, however do what most web editors do and copy/paste from other sites or software. Also, you can take pride in your own work if you design the site on your own, without the need for DIY Web-builder kits.Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication - Leonardo Da Vinci0
