    Wow, aren't you clever.

Implausible you'll ever be in negative equity because you bought in 05?

    Jokes.

Do you know how much I paid for it?

Do you know how much the other houses were on the street when I bought it?

Do you know how much deposit I put down?

Do you know how much houses increased since then?

I don't suppose you do, do you? So I fail to see the justification of your comment.

Like I said, implausible. Not, impossible. Also, I didn't have a crystal ball, or was especially clever, I took a punt based on what I believed would happen, and I was proved right.

We are living in our home, bought nearly 7 years ago, which we couldnt afford to buy now.Worth over 200k but what good does that do us unless we want to make ourselves homeless by selling?
I love my house though so am very happy to be stuck here:D

    Most significant post in ages!

There is something well out of skew when people cant afford to buy the house they live in at any given time.

    House prices should track wages

Wow, you're so intelligent. I bet you feel really proud of yourself. If only everyone could make the same enlightened and enriching decisions as yourself. Perhaps you should embark on building a BTL empire. With your proven track record of property investment strategy I think you're going to be a property millionaire in no time.

Why get personal? Why make sarcastic remarks about me?

I never said I was "so intelligent". I accept I took a calcuated risk based on what I thought at the time. What is so wrong about that? I figured that in a worse case I could just carry on paying the mortgage and ride out the crash. But the crash never came.

My track record has been good so far, and yes, I have some BTL properties as well. You don't get anywhere in life without a bit of risk.

Having read the heated posts on here I thought I should add a comment.

Life really is so short and we are, as individuals, on this planet for such an infinitesimally short time. We should try to enjoy life and make the most of each day and the people who we care about rather than worry whether we've 'made' money on our house or 'lost' money.

If a house price crash happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't. Post after post on this forum will make no difference to the future of the housing market. What goes around, comes around. Live life for the moment, and make memories for the future. Be happy.

A quote from a recent Ikea magazine:

Do you life in a house or a home?
Are you in it for the money or the love?
Do you think you'll be happy when you move?
    Or are you happy now?
Does it give you financial security or emotional warmth?
Does it make you feel like you're getting somewhere?
Or does it make you feel like you're there now?
If it could talk, could it tell anyone what your favourite colour is?
When your little boy draws a plane on the wall, do you reach for the paint roller or grab another crayon and draw a rocket?
    Is it perfect?
Or is it real, and still perfect?
Do you keep it as empty as possible to create space, or do you fill it with all the people and things you enjoy the most?
Do you look in estate agent's windows?
Or do you look in your own window and think 'how lovely'?
Are you constantly monitoring its price or are you measuring its occupants' heights on the back of the bathroom door?
What's the most important thing you put into it, two fifths of your salary, or your life and soul?
What's the most important thing you'll get out?
    A profit?
Or a treasure trove of memories that'll never, ever go down in value but always up.
    It's not too late.
A house can always become a home.
    Love, not money.
    That's what gives a home a soul.
And a home's soul is NOT FOR SALE.

Well, I've just completed the sale of my house for £130000. bought in 2003 for £31000. Sale has taken less than 2 months from start to finish. We have done loads of work on it, but also lived here very happily. Moving overseas now so will enjoy spending my money in the sun!!!!
