How much have you lost on your property ?

Well how far do you want to go as you said you could have waited until November...
No, as I've said my personal circumstances don't allow me to wait any longer....if we all thought there was something better round the corner we would all be sitting here waiting for the perfect day when everything was at it's cheapest and then buy and what good what that do.
So far it's done me £1790.08 worth of good over the first year and that's only in the first year and doesn't take into account the amount of interest I'd pay on the money borrowed over the 25 year life of the mortgage. For some people £1790.08 will be the difference between a nice holiday and an average one but for some it will be the difference between getting by and going under.
Folks who want to buy but aren't in a position where they have to buy immediately are better off waiting and to suggest otherwise is doing them a disservice. You keep saying that people are buying homes and therefore it doesn't matter what their homes are worth in a few years time but for the unfortunate few who's relationships break down or who have to relocate for work or need to trade down for any other reason, how much their home is worth in very important indeed.0 -

feel free to post your latest losses,
thanking you, BB :-)
Hi scrounger still not given up trying to wish misery on everyone else then?
You really are a waster, get off your lazy huge @rse and get a job0 -
All well and good if you can't afford to buy a house, but putting your life on hold waiting for a better opportunity is just plain daft and as I said how long are you going to wait, mortgages are getting harder to obtain rates are going up, whilst it has been very fortuitous for you that is exactly what it has been.
Property investment is a different matter but as i said putting your life on hold waiting just seems daft.0 -
Is a glass half full or half empty?
It depends how you view the losses and gains on a house or a home?
Its not always about money and as others have said already............ it only makes a difference when you are buying or selling.:o0 -
I have not lost a penny on my property yet. But I don't really see it as relevant to me or most people who are not investors, I am not selling and it seems houses in my area are about the same price as last year.
We have a nice house to live in, its now our home we can do what we want to, unlike our rented place. And unlike renting, we could actually sell the property after 20 years and get some money back. Might be more or less than we paid in total over the course of the mortgage, but still better than paying off the Landlords mortgage I reckon.
It always seems a bit stupid to me if people say their house has gone up by £99K or whatever, as they can only realise this value if they sell the house, and then they will only have to buy another house which will be up in price as well.0 -

Well said that man, people making a profit sit there smug as possible but dare you mention it might be loosing value and it ever so slightly touches a nerve. Oh dear.0 -
Property prices may be going down but the rental income is staying the same if not increasing from people unable to get a mortgage or selling to rent so life is still sweet for me. Are you upset because your housing allowence wont stretch as far blagger?Debts as of 01/june/08

not a prob as mentioned on another thread i dont get HA, also i only end up paying 5/6 rent to LL's like you, or even less if they dont have a clue about how the game works :beer:0 -
Think I have lost about £15k up to now - I sold it in december 2004 for £50k profit and started renting but its up for sale at £21k more now but I have had about £6k in interest.0

Quick question Blagger if you are happily looking for work and on bennifit but dont get HA how come you can go for theses flats you mentioned in an other thread at 550+ a month? "Landlords like me " dont take 5/6 of the rent I get full rent as I price the properties accordingly.
Just stop being bitter mate!Debts as of 01/june/08
