Possible scam ?

I don't agree with you, Hintza. This would be a classic way for a fraudster to use an online bank account they've obtained details from by sending fake e-mails (purporting to be from the bank) to spend the money by doing an online transfer and getting the goods sent to some convenient accommodation address. If he pays direct into your account you will be fine.
If this happens, you may lose the money when the paying bank traces where it's gone and you are encouraging somebody who sounds most dodgy.0 -
Didn't want to start a new thread, so thought i'd put this here. Does this look like an eBay scam? :-
"Q: How are you today and your family hope all is well with them?. am intending to buy this item for my father in-law, who reside in Africa- Nigeria..and am prepared to 90:00 GBP, and i want you to know that my mode of payment is western union money order/bidpay, and to make the payment your name in full is required for the payment, and your contact address, also your secured e-mail address, for sending you the notifcation. NB.. as soon as they approved the payment they will send you notification via your email, i will need to you get a price quote from ROYALMAIL...so that i can pay you all at once..and you will shipp it to my father in-law for his 65th birthday which is coming up next week friday. looking forward to hear from you soonest."
I listed the item as "Ship to Uk only". Anything to do with Nigeria rings alarm bells with me after all the scam emails i've had recently.

Hi i had similar on ebay when i sold a phone on buy-it-now within hours it was sold, even though the listing stated ship within Uk only. The buyer had 0 feedback and was completely new, stated he wanted to send it as a gift to his friends wedding used the same kind of lingo as above. Hence i just wrote back only uk ebayers only, got no reply. Hours later i checked his 0 feedback again, no longer a registered user, and he had never paid, so how did he expect me to send it!!!!!
Be very wary.......... if its suspect dont deal with them, or report to ebay and await confirmation. Hence to say i relisted the item and it sold to someone who was from the uk.0 -
It's a scam, all mobile phone auctions are targetted like this. I had two almost identical e mails when i sold a phone last month.
The only way to stop it and to save endless listings fees is to stop offering a bIN option. With a straight auction you can at least cancel bids or block buyers who send these scam mails.
You will see that some sellers even put something in the auction text about reporting all such emails to the appropriate authority.

Regarding my original post, the buyer did pay by postal orders in the end and all went smoothly, it's just a shame that the scam merchants make one so sceptical. I too have stopped listing items as buy it now because of these nigerian scams.WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?
That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.0 -

Zap, I would suggest very strongly that you read all the threads on here about the nigerian scam. This is a classic one, don't even bother reading them in future just delete them and move on.
Oh, and in case your post was tongue in cheek and not serious then apologies.
