If your records show many different addresses within a relatively short period of time, eg 6 months here, a year there, 4 months at the next one, that can work against you. To be fair to the Co-op & Barclays, although they are supposed to be BR-friendly, they are banks at the end of the day, & all banks want to see you living in a relatively stable fashion. I think all banks ask for your previous address if you've lived at your current one for under 3 years, & if your records show several different ones, they may wonder why you move around so much. You're not looking for credit facilities, but if you have loads of addresses they might wonder how they'd reach you if you move around a lot & owe them money, or they might think you're using different addresses for nefarious reasons.hove_park_bench_bbc wrote: »The 'fairtrade' coop movement of banking is becoming two faced.

If the issue is your name (i.e having two different names, as opposed to having only one but having insufficient ID for it), I don't think they'd put that in a letter as they wouldn't know they're really dealing with you, if you see what I mean. Once you ring them to query the letter, they should be able to tell you the reason for the refusal or give you an address/phone number to contact about it.Thanks for the pm, I have just done as you suggested. If it's only my ID I wonder why they didn't just write and ask me for more info??
