House price inflation has continued its recent pick up, according to the latest survey from the Nationwide. The building society said prices rose by 1.1% in March, pushing the annual rate of inflation back up to 5.3%. The average property now costs £162,000.
In the three months to March, prices were 2.2% higher than in the previous three months, which was the fastest spurt since September 2004.

The month after the Easter weekend is supposed to be the busiest for estate agents - people selling do their big 'tart and depart' DIY and declutter over the Easter weekend, and then list it with the agent for viewings to start once the kids go back to school.
No sign of a Spring Bounce round here, although an agent is trying to persuade me to make a £700k offer for a £775k asking price house, and trying to persuade me I'd be getting a bargain.0
