Cheapest pay as you go mobile phone
Options
Please can anyone help ? My wife & I would like a pay as you go mobile phone each. We don't use them that often, so would not like to be tied into any other contract ie. line rental, insurance, any kind of contract etc. All we want to do is buy the phones & pay for calls - as simple as that. Any info would be most welcome.
Thanks

For the cheapest mobile phone with FM radio - I think its the Nokia 2310 from CarphoneWarehouse.
Its £9.95 plus another tenner for airtime - you'll find that CPW will allow a ten pound trade in on even the oldest phone - so you can get it for only a tenner.

I think Nokia 6300 is very good which is just £50.0

<£30 - you'll need to check if you can unlock it if you don't want Orange.

I think it is the cheapest mobile, but I am not sure if it has fm radio.MSE_Lawrence wrote: »What's the deal?
TJ Hughes is selling a basic Motorola mobile for the bargain price of £5. If you want it delivered it'll cost £8.60.
To find your nearest TJ Hughes store, use its Store Locator. Limited to one per customer.
It's not a high tech handset
It's not going to win any prizes for its features, but the Motorola F3 is an ideal backup/granny in the glovebox phone. Its 'digital paper' screen is large and easy-to-read, and the fact it's black and white may actually be an advantage here, as it gives the phone a decent battery life of over a week of average use.
This simplicity extends to the menus too; it's easy to get around the phone, just don't expect to find anything but the basics. SMS messaging is about the limit of the handset's capabilities (though ropey voice recognition is also possible).
Is it unlockable?
Reports are that it can be unlocked, making it a great backup handset in case you lose your main one. For more details on phone unlocking read the Mobile Unlocking: Unlock the savings article.
Do a call cost comparison
If you want a new PAYG phone to make calls rather than just as a backup, read the Cheapest Mobiles article for the top deal. Otherwise the savings made by buying this handset will be dwarfed by expensive call costs.
Thanks to weegiesoapdodger for spotting this deal!

It looks liked a newbie (tbott) has inadvertently bumped up the thread as they are looking for a cheap mobile, but THEY make no mention of the fact the it has to have a FM radio.
