Im confused on this.
Im with southern electric, have been for 3mths and just got my 1st bills obviously, quiet pleased and very pleased with the customer service.
So my prices are going up right? Even though it says Southern energy, southern electric is still part of it, correct?
If thats right, then as the post says Scottish, then i take it, its Scottish power increasing as well, right?
Well today i received a phone call from Scottish power (previous customer) giving me the speal about seeing if they could save me money. Once i mentioned i was a southern electric company they straight away they're increasing the price and we'll be cheaper.
But aren't Scottish power increasing prices as well?Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
Hi everyone....a newbie here, I have been waiting for the price hikes from the gas and electric companies, and thinking they were all done, swapped via uswitch to Atlantic, who I now discover hadn't raised their prices at all, and i joined just in time for them to announce it!! .
You can tell i am new to this money saving lark!!
Does anyone have any advice for me, is it too late for me to swap again?
Pleeeaaaasse help:o
I've just done the same, but as there's no tie in, I'm planning to change again pretty soon, and with the quidco cashback for swapping, I reckon I'll be in credit. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
The full name of the company is Scottish and Southern Energy.
If you look you will see that your bills come from Perth in Scotland.
They have a number of operating companies, Swalec in Wales, Southern Energy, Atlantic, and Scottish Hydro. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I am currently with Atlantic for duel fuel. Does anyone know if I just change my electricity to another supplier whether I lose the free month with Atlantic or not?
I am trying not to lose my free month in July, not pay the £100 arrears on the Winter gas bill, get a cheaper supplier and get the quidco £40 bonus with British Gas. The Atlantic offices are now closed for Easter so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.
My paperwork just says 'once you've been with us for a year, we'll give you an annnual rebate...' Technically I will still be with them but for single fuel and not for the duel fuel that I signed up for.
Thanks.0 -

You can in theory switch suppliers once every 28 days (unless obviously you signed up to a long-term fixed rate tariff.
I wouldn't realistically do it more than once per year, though - as you'll probably end up with lots of bill confusion.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

I am with Atlantic and have been for over 2 years.yes they are good but i am a high electric user and am also thinking about changing .I would imagine that if you stay with them for your gas you will get your rebate on what you pay for the gas,as they are billed and taken separately.Or you could wait until after you get your rebate in July for both, as you are not THAT far off now.
I would certainly ring them and clarify, perhaps you could let me know, and also which company you decide to change to ,as i might follow suit!!0 -
I'll be honest-I'm not too bothered about the price increases for one very simple reason.
S&SE have got the most important element of their operation spot on, which is why I frowned but then said to myself-i'm still not switching....
BLOODY GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have not seen this from any other UK supplier so I am staying put-everyone is increasing prices, and out of all the providers-Southern have held off for as long as they possibly could-saving me money in the longrun so i'm staying with them for both my utilities!
I only ask one thing on next quarters bill (which I pay by D/D so i'm not too worried due to being in credit)
Be gentle when printing my bill please S&SE Billing Team...many thanks...lol!!:rotfl:Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!

You were not the only one who thought all the prices had gone up.
"It has not been all bad news for the supplier: as the company with the cheapest standard energy tariffs for the past two months, it has picked up tens of thousands customers who have chosen to switch."

The article I read regarding the forthcoming increase said that after the increase S&S will still be cheapest for dual fuel customers.0

18215 kWh gas, any combined saving was minimal, and mostly with places personally I'd avoid. Only with on line billing might the savings have been more substantial, so I am staying with SE, especially lnowing how good their service and billing is.0
