We are using www.economycarhire.co.uk for our car hire to and from Faro airport. They have been recommended on this site before and there is no excess on the insurance.
They have had many good recommendations elsewhere as well.

  • Try Holiday Autos and go through quidco for £10 cashback. I have used them once so far this year (at Faro) and they were GOOD. They seem to use the majors (budget/europcar) not the one man bands that a lot of the car hire firms sub out to. My cashback is due to be paid this month.

    Hope that helps

  • We booked through Auto Europe last year. Got a Golf from Europcar which was fine for the 5 of us. Was full to full (although the system at the filling station by the airport entrance went down as we were queuing so we were there ages), and no hassles with damage to the car. Cost around £300 for 2 weeks with refundable excess, and theres 8.5% quidco.

economycarhire for us too. They use "Travelrent" at Faro. Company is a bit rough and ready, but they have a 'bring it back with the same amount of fuel' policy and do not take any fuel deposit. Our car was damaged whilst parked, I called it through, but wasn't charged. All they checked when I took the car back was the fuel level!

You posted the question in the morning, and bumped it at tea time, don't you think people might have been out at work:confused:
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Hi parents live lagos Portugal nearest airport is Faro, the first time we went out we hired through avis, we had to queue for 2 hours to get the car which with two young children was a nightmare, we were also not told that on the return of the car we had to take it to a particular depo offsite of the airport, since then we have always used travel rent they greet you as you come through customs take you out to the carpark and give you your car when you return you meet them in the carpark, yes rough and ready in respect of it not having an office but excellant customer service and very easy to use, All friends and relatives who vist my parents use this company now and have never been disapointed.

  • go with economycarhire as mentioned above, i looked into this for ages in december when i whent to albufeira. There is no excess and they were brilliant they even sent us a satisfaction survey when we got back. I think we payed £35 for 4 days and we got an upgraded car and were met on arrival at Faro.
