WHICH 1
I'm with e7even, been with them for a few months and had no real problems. They do operate a premium rate support number but, when I went live a one / rwo minor problems and e-mailed them asking to ring me because I needed to be on dial-up to set some things up - 3 mins later they rang - so pretty good.
Two sites worth looking at so that *you* can get an opinion as to who / what you think is best (as Jack the Lad said there are other considerations) are:

Like cloud_dog, I have been with e7even for a little while and they are great. Their current special offer ends today (no doubt something else tomorrow).
With the current deal you get a 4 port ethernet modem and 3 months extra, FREE.
They are very cheap - I pay the equivalent of £16.66 per month for 512k unlimited bandwith. They also include at no extra cost a static ip address and a free .uk domain name registration and hosting.
Their support is excellent too.
They also offer a £20 referral fee to users.
If you want to join them, check out my link on the referrers board. If you use my referral number, I'll send you a cheque for £10.
Cheers

try here http://www.ispreview.co.uk/ for reviews of most internet service providers and users comments. This site covers both Broadband and dial-up and as far as im aware it is independant.
