I would not waste my time on a home study course. You need practical experience and if you want to do it for a career you need qualifications. Check with your local college and see what courses they have and try to get a part time job helping a plumber and then you will learn some practical skills.0

there are lots of links in a previous discussion here:

Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)0

Weekend warrior said it; get to your local college. Don't go with these 'learn plumbing in a week' people; you can't learn it in a week. And you can't learn it at home.0

Hi Folks
I am thinking of doing a plumbing course. However, I am slightly disabled and cannot use tools properly. I would ideally want to do it online or distance learning to get the knowledge and then perhaps become a plumbing tutor and give lessons at prehaps, my local college.
Do you think that would be the best alternative, rather than becoming a plumber myself (because of my disability)?
Is there much of a demand for plumbing tutors?
Thanks in advance0 -
Plumbing tutors need years of experience. Like most trades, its not something that can be taught just out of a text book and as it is a practical skill you would be expected to demonstrate how to do tasks such as fit unions, olives, solder, bend pipe...0

Yes. Do a proper apprenticeship if you want to be employable. No decent plumbing company will touch someone who has done a fast track course because they've learned nothing.0 -

Somebody else said this rubbish on another thread, was it you?
Either way, I'll repeat, rubbish statement to make.0 -

i think its a non starter, why would someone employ you as a tutor when the next guy has been a plumber for 20 to 30 years, who would they pick,0
