Can't see Safari ever being a serious contender in Windows, it's just isn't very fitting with the rest of the system, Firefox and Opera are much better. Is still anyone using IE?!;)

Yes I am and before you suggest FF or Opera I already have those installed and I used FF as my default for years since its beta days but when IE7 was released I preferred that, it's no slower on my system and until recently (with improved FF performance) it took up less memory resources than FF. I now don't really like the FF interface or Opera's. It's all down to personal preference and personall needs rather than saying one is better than the other in absolute terms.

Each to their own I guess, nice to have the choices too.

I've no idea, or interest which is fastest, I switch between Opera and FF regularly, but FF is my default, mainly because it does all what I need and I believe it be be more secure than IE.
5 years ago IE was a mess, but now it is a good contender, just not my cup of... tea this time ;)

Can't disagree with that, IE6.... how on Earth did people survive before tabs? :D

I think the security thing is less of an issue nowadays, all the browsers equally have pop up blockers and if you have a good firewall and AV software then I don't really think IE7 is any less secure than the other browsers. The last time I got infected even with a firewall I was actually using FF. Not FF's fault necessarily but I think the whole IE being less secure is definitely overplayed now with the arrival of IE7.

Yes just Apple's browser, you can uninstall it if you're never going to use it.

As for silverlight that's in simplest terms a bit like Microsoft's equivalent to Adobe Flash Player. It's used to "play" advanced web features that use that technology but still in its infancy so very few places have made use of it yet.

its prolly a hella fast on macs but not windose...

nothing apple/mac based ever works as fast on pcs regardless of the power of the pc.

    photoshop alone proves that.

The latest Safari 3.1 is sooooo fast compared to Firefox 3, IE8 (buggy) and Opera.

I mean really really fast, instant web pages, perfectly rendered, shame there are no mouse gestures for XP and new tab homepage, apart from that it's perfect.

Safari/Opera are the fastest of full release versions but neither is fuly compatable with many major sites.

I see Apple update software (which was for the ipod software i thought) is now trying to "sneak" Safari onto the unwitting computer user.
So I uninstalled the Apple update software.
If I want a new version of itunes, i'll go and get it myself.
