I would love to know where they get their prices from sometimes.

As you're getting married, you are be finding that virtually everything to do with weddings is inexplicably twice the price of it's non-wedding equivalent! Cars, cakes, clothes, music, food, venues, photos, etc, etc. The sixty quid will pale into insignificance I'm afraid!

So would you like the local council tax payers to stump up the costs for you registering to marry then?

The staff member you saw needs paying, that computer had to be bought and needs to be maintained and a notice will be posted of forthcoming marriages in case anyone wants to raise any objections. Any objections raised will then have to be dealt with.
  • dont u mean BANNS! and if you are applying at the Town Hall you are marrying by licence - Banns are only applicable to Church weddings and guess what they only cost £ 30.00...

Me and my (now) husband paid this (well £30 each) - and were both given receipts for this transaction. We were also told to pay a further £37.50 on the day as well (this was at Leeds Registry Office).
  • I had to read the OPs post about 4 times before I could work out what they were on about.

There are notices in my local registery office giving details of all forth coming marriages, giving any one the opportunity to contest the marriage. Good or bad - not really sure, but appears to be necessary
