Selling a Blackberry Pearl - tips

OK, so as the title states, my daughter is selling a brand new unopened Blackberry Pearl 8110, and just wants to know the best steps to take to eliminate any fraud. I've said confirmed paypal addresses only, send by special delivery and keep slip for 6 months. What else is advised?

Check all buyer requirements - set them as strictly as possible, ie:

No low feedback buyers without a credit card on file
    No buyers with recent strikes
    No minus feedback bidders

You get the idea... when you see the options it's fairly obvious which ones to tick.

Oh, and no selling overseas! At all - RM won't insure it.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Keep a note of the IMEI number etc, it will be on the side of the box. Take a photo of it, it will correlate to the number inside the phone. Just incase they switch phones on you.

OK, thanks, but the box is sealed - she wasn't going to open it, should she open it and take a pic of the IMEI on the phone, and on the box? She's gone through her ebay options and made them as strict as possbile :D

I always sell unwanted upgrades on buy now and accept best offers. You can then be in charge of who buys as you get enough info on the person making the offer to decide if they are genuine. Set the buy now quite high, you may get the full price. I just ignore silly offers or you can set it to automatically reject offers below a set figure.

I'd definately open the box just to do this. She has to cover all bases. Then just state in the listing that box has only been opened to record the IMEI numbers on the phone. That might in itself stop a few potential scammers if you tell them you have recorded the IMEI number.

Personally I would sell it on a BIN to only those with a registered paypal account and sale only completes on payment a quick search should tell you what the right price is.

    Alternatively sell it on Amazon.

    Don't take paypal.

    Don't ship abroad.

Ask for a cheque, and after 6 working days when it's clear send your phone via special delivery.
