Can I open this ISA now?

I have an Abbey ISA for 07/08 and previous years.

Can I open this http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/savings/index.asp?page=direct-isa&ct=savingshome transfer in 07/08 and previous years then contribute £3600 after 6th April?

Would it let me open an 07/08 ISA, even though it will be a transfer?

Worth looking at Abbeys latest issue 2, you can do your transfers and as yours are already with Abbey it might make it easier.

Yes you can do that. But, by the time it's transferred, you will now likely be in 08-09. Which is no problem, you simply add the £3600 as soon as the new ISA is available to you.

Or ... as we're now into the mayhem period at the end of the ISA year ... you could wait, and add the £3600 into the existing ISA - then transfer it?

Pop in to an Abbey branch and sign a form to convert your existing ISA to Direct ISA issue 2 paying 6.25%. That way you keep the same account number etc and still get the better rate.
