Bank of Mum and Dad - BBC2 8pm Tuesdays

Becky's mum and dad come down to Debtford to sort out her debt problems, shes spending £600 more per month than she earns !
Did you see them ?? did you see their faces turn red on the TV in embarrasment ! when they read the amount of debt £13k owed.
Her dad, like a sensible dude, told her to put money aside in a cash-isa ! She lisented for a short while, and put £300 away, only to draw it and spend it on a Gucci bag !!!
They defientely need to educate kids at schools and colleges on how to manage money !!!
Though she is making use of the 0%, BUT shes making the fatel error of SPENDING instead of Stoozing the 0% debt ! Which I guess why the card companies are eager to push the 0% offers.
Though at somepoint does this not mean that they will stop the 0% so that the debt can no longer be moved ? makes logical sense does it not ? They must be using some formualae at the moment that until it reaches x condition the 0% offers are more profitable in the long-run ?
She ends up back at home with mum and dad
The only bit I don't agree with is the sacrolidge commited at the end of the programme ! They snipped the EGG SBT CARD !!! ;D0

the 600 per month was a bit much, that rent is silly on their income too!
Her debt was not too bad in comparison, the girl the other week was upto 30k and had no job...! :-X
I quite like the program, it keeps me on top of my debt management (stoodent loans and car on my credit cards)
keeps me on top of my monthly expenditure too, and am managing to save some cash for hols too
recommended watching (although be warned it keeps you awake at night self analysing !)0

Thought the program was really good tonight, like Fraser says it helps you keep on top of your debt management plan.0

I love it, it keeps my teenagers on the straight and narrow, I keep threatening them that if they get into debt I will take them in hand. We discussed it on the discussion time thread previously when the chap concerned was spending £400 per month on his dog.0

This programme is good if you want a laugh.
I have seen the last two, not the one from 26/10/04 yet, and they've both been women wasting it on the usual womanly stuff - handbags, jewelry etc.
Personally I think there are more deserving causes than stupid people £30k or whatever in debt.
But it is the BBC. They make Eastenders so you can't expect too much! 0 0

If nothing else the programs are very entertaining
Watching adults revert back to children right infront of your eyes ! More quickly in the cases of some than others, but by the end of the program they are all in bed with their teddies, sucking their thumbs
Still I am absolutely sure, a lot of people watching these programs learn a lot of what could happen if you don't watch your debt !
As the common themes running through all persons was -
 1. Spending more than they earn.
 2. Vain people , lacking in self confidence thus the need to spend huge sums on junk and going out, so that they look good to others. i.e. its easy to give some one £100 and then ask them do I look good ? - shopping at junk shops for £500 junk jackets !
 3. Ignorign the actual amount owed and not thinking about how to repay it.0

Watch out for the repeats !

I watched this, the girl who was £27k in debt with no job was so funny. Her Mum got her painting the flat she lived in and horse riding, why wasn't she out finding a job! ???
They all just seem to want Mum & Dad to pay off the debt for them, none of them are that bothered about it. The advice isn't all that good, the guy that comes in just says what they will owe in 6 months to a year if they carry on spending they don't give the sort of advice you get on here about saving money on utilitys etc which would be better. They should have got Martin in to do it! 0 0
