For those hoping to write 25 spam messages and then claim the free delivery, scan are removing the post history for those making very small orders and then checking carefully so to abuse this you need 25 posts for each order and probably a new hexus account - ie is it really worth it?I think....0

Unfortunately, some people will go to great lengths to save a few bob.0

For DR Hexus
"Please be fair - the majority of shipments will be UK based hence why they can get good pricing on this. I suspect most retailers will charge lots for NI, Channel Islands etc. It would cost me more to send something Royal Mail, blame them."
I don't quite understand this statement. If I send something via royal mail from Bolton to london it would cost the same as sending it from Bolton to Belfast. Royal Mail charges are the same throughout the UK and N.Ireland is part of the UK. I have just ordered something of Scan and was very disappointed thay they would not send the package Royal mail but instead charged extortionate del prices.0 -
What the post is saying I believe is that Scan don't use Royal Mail because by sending all of the packages by sh!tty link they can negotiate a rate cheaper than Royal Mails for the majority of packages (i.e. to mainland UK). The downside is that it means they pay more for packages to far flung places than using say Royal Mail.
This is also the case for most online retailers who will tend to use a cheap carrier that fleeces them (and hence the customer) for non-mainland deliveries where the logistics are much more costly. Probably more accurately reflecting the genuine cost of delivering the package than a regulated service such as RM.
Ideally it would be nice if Scan could differentiate between bulky mainland UK deliveries going by City Link and Island /small packages going via Royal Mail. However I suspect the logistics and reduce volume would ultimately add to the cost.
