You can just phone up his bank branch and confirm that they have issued a bankers draft in his name (That is all the car dealer did when I bought my car by bankers draft).

sorry to say it sounds a bit dodgy to me,

bankers draft on a bank holiday,

if he cannot come with cash dont deal

if cash do it 'if meeting halfway' on a garage forecourt or somewhere where there is cctv

once you get the cash put that in the other car and then do the paperwork,

or all sit in YOUR other car and do the paperwork there making sure the doors are locked,

I have done this on numerous occasions for cash buyers up to £50k

if I can be of assistance PM me BUT I charge £300 for this service

If suspicious walk away, don't let the money blind you, there should always be another buyer if the sale price is right. With them wanting to spend so much I am suprised they can't find a car closer to Yorkshire that meets with their approval.

I'd walk away too. It's just too risky. Why can't the buyer wait until Tuesday when the banks are open?
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Get them to give you a Building Society cheque and insist on being present when the cheque is issued ?

I think they are back from Cyprus this weekend seeing family and combining the trip with car seeking. I'll wait and see what they say with regards to payment method - they said they'd phone tomorrow - they might not even phone.
I'm sure the fact that we are suspicious should keep us on our toes and dh will take his dad with him.

They want your car so make them come to you.

Have a read of this as a reason to be careful
Man robbed at gunpoint at Luton Esso garage

Large amount of money is taken in car sale ruse
A 28-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday night at a Luton petrol station.

The victim, from Banbury in Oxfordshire, arranged to meet a man known as 'K', thought to be from Finchley in London, at the Esso garage in Dunstable Road, to purchase a second-hand black VW Golf.

Two men arrived, between 9.45pm and 10.30pm, and persuaded the victim to drive to a lay-by ne
ar the junction of Dunstable Close where they could discuss the car sale.

But when they got there, the men threatened the victim with what appeared to be a handgun and stole a large sum of money which he had brought to buy the car.

The robbers then sped off in the black VW Golf they had arrived in and also took the rental car, a silver five door Astra - index number KJ57 MRV - which the victim was driving.

Both men were of mixed race appearance, slim and about 5'5" tall.

'K' was approximately 21 years old, with short curly hair, a dark moustache and wearing a hooded top.

The other man was in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a dark baseball cap and a dark hooded top with the hood up.

Police are still trying to trace the stolen Astra.
