I sometimes wonder if it's better to just disappear.

You have made terrific progress hun, you should be so proud of all that you have achieved so far. Imagine what it was like before your LBM and think about how much better your life will be after all of your hard work.

I wonder if this has driven you down so far that you're now clinically depressed.
It can make you have thoughts that scare you, unable to sleep, unable to make a straight decision about anything and blow everything up in your mind until you feel you can't cope. Disappearing seems like an easy answer.
    I know, I've been there!

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

I feel lonely and depressed and have no-one to talk to, not even my husband to be. I don't necessarily need constructive advice or anything. I just needed to get this out there and out of my head because I don't like the scary places my thoughts are taking me to at the moment.

You may feel lonely but you're not alone!

I'm in a similar place to you at the moment. I'm being divorced after 16 years, I've got a "spot" of debt (see sig) and when the dear girl moves out, I'll be living in my campervan!! However, as in life, all things are relative. There are people out there a whole lot worse off than me. I've been "sleeping" on the setee for the past month and I've completely forgotten what a good night's sleep feels like  The balance of that is that the sun is shining at the moment, I'm alive and healthy, I've got food in the cupboards and I've got 2 gorgeous dogs that love me to bits. :T

If you want to talk, there's always someone to talk to on here. I've had some very despairing moments in the last few weeks and the good folk of the OS board have been incredibly supporting and they've lifted me out of my depression. I've also learnt a lot about saving money from them as well :D

Don't ever feel like you're alone. You're not.

    Best wishes.

    Martyn.

    Hiya.

Big hugs to you! (not so early here, late at night in NZ).

Sorry to hear you are feeling so alone. I can totally sympathise.

For me, I felt my lowest when I could almost feel the warmth of the light at the end of the tunnel and took an overdose. Not sure why it hit me at this point, and not the start when I realised how much I owed, but it did.

You have done SOOOOOOOOOO well. And it wont be long before the money will be all yours, you have come this far, so dont let the debt beat you!

I know what it is like to feel alone though, but really, this board is a great help and if you dont want to share it for all of the world to see, PM someone and spill your guts to them - plenty of us here for you.

Like so many others already replied, big hugs to you. You have done Brilliantly, please look at where you have come from and your nearly debt free. Im a newbie here and well, ive learnt so much and you want to talk just give us all a hollow, and sometimes putting things and feelings on here hopefully will help you somehow to see out of the blackness you are feeling being in. I cannot say i fully know what you must be feeling, but i do understand that depression affects us in different ways. Im currently off work with depression and stress and this site has helped me to understand my own feelings and been wonderful in getting to know about how to tackle my debt and saving money etc. There have been wonderful people who have responded kindly to my daft questions via pm too, thank you all.

Dont feel you are alone here, just let us have a chat with you and i promise i personally will always respond to you. We are all here for the long haul and so lets all become freinds if we can.

Perhaps you can join a gym or get together with some friends and go for a walk this helps me so hope this may help to lift your desperate moments.

Life is precious we sometimes dont realise how much, i include myself and i know that every day is sometimes a struggle but we must hold onto some kind of positive thought to get us to handle the day ahead. Baby steps will help trust me, it will eventually give you the strenght to carry on.

Big hugs again and hollow if you want a chin way anytime

    Take care

You have achieved so much since your LBM-why not look back to some of your first posts in your original username just to see how far you've come? Clearing that amount of debt is exhausting and stressful, and it hits all of us at some point-give yourself a pat on the back, and try to think of some treats to look forward to when you hit certain milestones, and then keep a little reserve fund of money to pay for them (I am planning a day trip to one of my favourite cities when my loan is reduced to £10,000, and am using my sealed pot to pay for this). As someone else has said, this time next year, you'll be very close to debt freedom, and then you can saving all the money you used to use on debt repayments for your house deposit :)

Keep posting, and look after yourself xxx

Can only add to what the others have said, you have done really well so far. We all hit moments on our debt free journey when it feels like you are fighting fire but look at your achievement - £27k paid off is amazing.

I also dislike my job but it pays quite well for this area and is secure. I am viewing my debt free date as a licence for looking for a job that I actually enjoy when I haven't got the pressure of large repayments anymore.

I don't know about you but I have found since my LBM and starting a snowball, the months are just flying by. Chin up, you will get through this blip and get your motivation back again.xx
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time
