I have read through pages and pages and haven't found anyone asking this yet so I apologise if I'm asking you guys to repeat stuff!! I'm currently living in cyprus and would love to have a go at this, obviously I was wondering if you have to be based in the uk or if it really matters as its all online and on the phone. Any help would be appreciated, thanks xx

You need to pass their initial assessment of your PC and internet connection using a UK ISP. Once passed, theoretically you could, going forward, connect from a non-UK ISP (assuming you are not asked to complete another technical assessment at some point down the line).

You also need to have a UK phone number. VoIP would work (regardless of what they may say), providing you have a high quality, reliable, high speed internet connection with proper QoS in place, and a good quality ATA using the correct codecs and regional settings.

It matters, you have to be in the UK as far as TT are concerned.

    *Officially.

Unofficially, you could be anywhere as long as you do what I've said in my previous post.

I really do believe you need to be based in UK for the job= you definitely need a UK landline as you have to enter your home phone number into softphone for it to phone you back to login to take calls and you are not allowed to use mobiles or even cordless phones for that matter. I can see the reasoning behind the fact that you could be 'anywhere' once you have gone through the computer tests etc but I think in reality it would not work.

Just to further add fuel to this - during training I joked that I would take my laptop on holidays and take calls so that I would not loose out on wages - and I was told the setup would not work abroad because of ISP providers, UK landlines and things like that (sorry, as you can tell I am inbound sales not technical support lol).
But certainly there is not harm in applying for the post if you live in Cyprus, the worst they can say is no- you have to be based in UK. Good luck

What's a UK landline? A UK phone number with outgoing called ID, line set to UK specification, with a UK (BT style) phone port? That can be spoofed easily and no one would know the difference. If, and I must stress this, it is set up correctly. I'm not talking Skype here.
