Speeding fine

Options
Friend of mine has just got her first speeding fine. She was caught by a "gun" going 37 in a 30- she knows she was in the wrong

But was wondering, as its her first, will she get the driving course thing? she said it says something about it depending on the speed being done in the speed limit.

Does anyone have any information if she can?

just accept the fine and pay.. i got flashed by a camara .. 3 days after i moved house- contacted DVLA a few days later and contacted the police constabulary involved (took a few days as head gaskit went further on journey!!) police could not find details sent me a letter that means nowt!!
DVLA and courts took 15 months to locate me at my address (despite attempts to make ammends) fine rose from 60 pounds to over 400!! had no choice but to pay - also points doubled- S%$T

It'll no doubt be a £60 fine and 3 points on the license. I think that actually IS the alternative, as opposed to prosecution!!

The driving course was usually for those caught on their mobile phone caught there and then by the police.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I believe that to be wrong.
just accept the fine and pay..

I have since found out that as she was doing under 38 in a 30 then she will be given the option to do the awareness course.

I did an awareness course after shunting some poor person waiting at an island. Raining heavily, not going fast at all but just couldn't stop in time. The copper that turned up said "Don't worry about it, I've done the same myself" Was quite a surprise when I received a letter to go on an awareness course costing £140 (2 weeks pay for an apprentice). Was even more surprised when
over the 2 days I only spent 1 hour driving and the rest drinking tea.
Bet match total as of 04/10 = God Knows + About £1000 Quidco. Time for Mrs Huddsta to have a crack!!!

The Bronze Challenge - earn £250 in profits =£73.32

If she was caught by an officer at the side of the road with a speed gun then she would of been pulled over there and then and issued the penalty notice there and then and she will have to pay a £60 fine and receive 3 points. I don't believe that the speed awareness course is an option when caught by an officer with a speed gun. If she was not pulled over there and then, then she has been very lucky and has got away with it.

If it was a speed camera at the side of the road and not an officer with a gun she will recive a NIP inthe post within 2 weeks and she MAY be offered the speed awareness course (not all$ forces operate these though).

All the above is from memory and may have changed, it has been a long time since i dealt with any of these offences!

Depends where she is, only some areas do the courses.

Not necessarily. They do not always do roadside stops any more.

I've gone on the awarness course too and it's a waste of time - even told them that in the feedback 'if you wan't to fine me more and not give me points I would rather you were up front with it'
