You could also use a Phantom+ little £30 gadget that adds to an ordinary Sky box and turns it into a record-1-channel-at-a-time PVR using either your VCR or DVD recorder.

Seems like a neat gizmo, but I can already do that with my TV / DVD redorder. I am really after a PVR with a hard drive with similar (or better) features than Sky +

I don't think this would solve my problem?

Please be advised, I have a Sky + box. I could get that enabled to record the channel I am watching free with more than one premium channel or pay Sky £10 per month.

If you want to be able to record stuff from sky, a dreambox will allow you to do so, without paying the subscription. It'll take a little setting up, but it's also a far more flexible solution (transfer over the network to a PC, etc).

  • Hi Hopefully someone can tell me what's involved in getting a dreambox. I'm fed up paying monthly subscriptions and am condidering the dreambox800 but really have no ide what I need to set it up. Is it difficult do I need extra soft where? and apart from all the television and radio channels I'll ever need what does it do. In layman terms. I tried reading the info on the official site and didn't understand a lot of it
