Just checked with E.ON and they vary this part of the discount to remain competitive in different regions. Agree very helpful on phone and yes meter reading company is a bit hit or miss. If i remember i leave a reading online every few months so i dont get any nasty surprise bills.

Good work dave and trisha. Couple of questions:
    1) How far through the transfer are you? I have the big 'Welcome to E.ON' letter, which says I'm on Energy Saver 5, but havent yet been asked for my meter reading.
    2) What no did you ring them on?

For what its worth, my letter says I'm on EON EnergyOnline Extra Saver 5, no standing charge:
    Gas: 3.235p / 2.574p
    Elec: 16.32p / 9.36p
6% direct debit discount, 3% dual fuel direct debit discount, 9% for managing it online.

    Hi
    The number I dialled was 0800 0151143

You have to register online as a new customer, give your account number, choose a password, then they email you an activation code, after you have done that you can log on again using your activation code and then enter your meter readings.

That's what I was told to to do anyway.

    Hi,

I am already with E.ON and just transfered to the Saver 5 product. Its worth keeping an eye on their tariffs especially nearer the time when the discounts run out - for ours this will be Apr 09.

As Trisha says its easy to register online and handy to look at your bills and usage etc. Don't forget if you have a Tesco clubcard to register this to get clubcard points.

Just checked The letter i had and yes SewerSide your on the correct Gas & Elec rates and discounts.

You have to telephone/post/email your first meter readings before your account can be fully activated. After this you can then send meter readings online.

Thanks guys, I'm registered as an online user, but they say they have to write to me to ask for my meter readings for the first time.
I've had my old provider on the phone, trying to stop me switching, very similar unit prices but no 18% discount!
  • Hi,

i had exactly the same concerns as this,

phoned Npower (my old supplier) as i received a letter from them saying sorry i am leaving and could i ring to finalise some details and the lady told me that Eon would more than likely put me onto the new enegy saver 6 scheme rather than the saver 5 which i signed up for.

Anyway rang E.on and after only 2 rings got straight through! (i was on hold with Npower for 20 mins!)

nice lady confirmed i had signed up for saver 5 scheme and would be on that tariff until 2009.

I have only received the welcome letter from eon after i had registered my online account, not got any other paperwork through yet

    hope this helps....

Hm. I just had Npower person at the front door assuring meI should switch back to them. Very very pushy. I mean Pushy.
    I said I'd look into it ;)
Even had to give back the leaflets I'd been handed, coz the fantastic discounts they included wouldn't be available to me online :/

Anyway I have the eon saver 5, 6% disc for dd, 3% dual, 10% for managing online.

edit, just checked 18 of t&c, you have to register your account online within 30 days to qualify for online disc.

My transfer to v5 should be completed today. I'm moving house in a couple of months, I wonder if they'll let me take the tariff with me??

Unlikely. It's a different property with another set of meters, and will be being billed by, probably, a different company (assuming it's not a new house, of course).
