Eon Online Extra Saver 5 no longer available
Options
I applied to switch on Electricity Online Extra Saver 5 a few days ago as it seemed to be the best deal for me.
I've just had another look at a comparison site and it seems this has been replaced by the more expensive Extra Saver 6!
I can't remember what the unit prices were, but I do recall there was an overall discount of 21% (combination of DD discount and managing account online discount). This is only 11.7% for Extra Saver 6, pushing Eon right down the table for anyone switching now.
I went to the Eon website itself which also confirmed that people looknig to switch now would get Extra Saver 6, rather than 5.
I assume cos I switched to Extra Saver 5, that this is what I will get but I will double check when I get my first letter through from them. Otherwise, just a warning to others out there who are just about to switch...

If I had a pound for every time I didn't play the lottery...

The discount for managing your account online has dropped and the tariff prices have gone up.
Npower 'Sign On-Line 10' seems to be the new cheapy tariff, well they had to do something after the slating they got on watchdog!! Next cheapest seems to be Altantic followed by Ebico.0 -
I have just changed to their energyonline extra saver 5
dd of £61 per month and a discount of :
6% dd discount
3% Duel Fuel discount
10.60% Online discount
How do they give you the discount, is it just deducted once a year?
I was on energy guarantee 4 but got fed up with wrong estimates and amendments which I didn't understand, I have cleared off the debit they said I owed and at least if I submit the readings they may be able to get it somewhere near right.
Is online saver 6 a better deal ?
Our gas prices on SS 5:
first 1143 kWH per qtr 3.235p per kWh
additional 2.57p per kWh
Electricity:

It's deducted against each quarterly bill.
As the first two posters said the online+DD discounts have dramatically reduced between versions 5 and 6. I suggest anyone who has recently signed up check which version they will get put onto.0 -
I just received a contract yesterday to say I am on version 5
Hope they don't move me to version 6 .0 -

Hi Graham and Trisha.. and all:),
Cheers Graham, I've just changed over to eon, I'll be sure to check the PW when it comes!
Yep, they told me it would be deducted quarterly. I asked them as I was suspicious in case they were trying a stealth 'tie-in' by paying at the end of 12 months, but no, it is quarterly.
About the on-line 6 and price rises, surely they don't need to increase prices with the money they'll save from the 200 job cut/move to Germany mentioned on ITV news tonight!!

My transfer to v5 should be completed today. I'm moving house in a couple of months, I wonder if they'll let me take the tariff with me??0

Yes, we just got it in the nick of time, albeit only for a year until April 2009
I don't know why the discount varies, it may be regional.
I got what I was promised on the phone 19.6% total discount.
Incidentally the man who I spoke to was very helfpul and explained everything I asked, he also told me to phone him if I needed to know anything else, you can't get better service than that.
One thing I asked was why the meter wasn't read regularly, apparently the meter readers are not part of their organisation, they are contractors who read the meters for a lot of companies.0
