Just got back from the 1st day, it was the first time Ive been to the testing and it was amazing!! If the next 2 days are the same, then people you are in for a treat!! Details below for people going on the next 2 days, which you might find helpful.
1 car park open at the circuit, lots of room for everyone.
Gates opened at 7.30am - but people were turning up all the time.
You can access everywhere from Club corner to Luffield Terrace. You have access to Club, Abbey Chicane, Farm, Bridge and Luffield Terrace. You cant go anywhere else , its all cordoned off.
Testing started at 9pm - 1pm and then 2pm - 5pm.
Selected food stalls and merchandise stalls - the merchandise is pricey - Be aware!! (for eg official Mclaren tops started at £28, there was a Ferrari rucksack that was £50!!!!!! )
Today, the drivers who were there were -
Felipe Massa - Ferrari
Robert Kubica - BMW
Heikki Kovalinen - Mclaren
Jenson Button - Honda
Nico Rosberg - Williams
Nelson Piquet Jr - Renault
Mark Webber - Red Bull
Sebastien Vettel - Torro Rosso
Vitantonio Luizzi - Force India
Kamui Kobayashi - Toyota
They announced at the beginning that Lewis, Alonso, and Raikkonen are there on Thursday.
Lots of cars, lots of action, lots of laps, Massa went off onto the grass after the Abbey Chicane and we got a faceful of grass!!! It was amazing, the noise, the atmosphere. Lots of people there, but wouldnt say it was full. It was easy to move around and pick different spots to look from. Absolutely loved every minute of it and will definately be going next year!!!
Hope this helps someone, as I know the info from Silverstone was limited.
ps there was commentary on and off, they were giving you lap times and the like. Up to 12.30, Force India had done 42 laps, Nico Rosberg had done 41, so it gives you some idea of how often and how long they were out on the track for. You could also buy Official programmes, which were £3 each, these gave you pictures of all the cars and all the drivers helmets so you could tell who was who! You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0
