Was in 2002 :D more than one driver from a team showing up and Trulli covering the most laps being 128. Last year was a poor show though

Does anyone know what time the 'action' tends to start on these testing days?

Normally all day from track open to close - but don't expect 26 cars going round at once - it's testing so there will only be a few cars on the track at a time, with some periods of nothing. It's still good value and a chance to see F1 cars on the cheap, but it was Free up until last year. There insn't any commentry, so it's difficult to know whats going one, or even whos driving. Also limited places to spend your money, which isn't a bad thing considering the cost of stuff there. Bring a picnic and earplugs and enjoy!

Can someone advise whether the event is actually suitable for children? I have booked a ticket for my daughter as I thought it would be a nice family day out but now im unsure as ive never been to an event like this.

    Thanks

I wouldn't advise it for young children as they will get bored very quickly. As has been said, there can be long periods with no activity at all, and the cars are VERY noisy - this is really one for the F1 enthusiasts.

And those who say it's not a bargain - compare the cost of this to the cost of a GP weekend. I went to Silverstone in 1999 and paid £200 for a grandstand seat right opposite the pit lane - and that was just for the race day! This is ideal if you want to see and hear F1 cars for the first time. The noise is immense, it doesn't come across on TV. The noise combined with the slight smell of the tyre rubber / exhaust fumes / unburnt fuel makes for a truly unique atmosphere.

I used to think the same, but they want to get as much testing in as possible so the 1st day could be as good or better than any other. Sometimes some teams clear off early on the last day if they've completed everything and sometimes they don't. Tell him to go and enjoy it.
