Aldo shoes cancelled my order - can I do anything?

Options
13 days ago I ordered some boots and a pair of shoes from aldo.com they took the money straight away and said the delivery would take 2-4 working days but today, after trying to call for the past few days, I got an e-mail stating my order has been cancelled due to stock shortages and I would be refunded.

I checked online and everything I originally ordered is in stock but is now not in the 50% off sale and they told me I could reorder them if I wished.

Surely they cannot do this. It appears they have cancelled my order because they didn't want to give them me at the reduced price.

I am going to call them at 9 but where do I stand. I suspect there is little I can do but I really wanted these but unfortunately cannot afford to pay the extra.

If you read the T&Cs on their web page, they might have something written about this... but usually there's a clause that once the money has been paid, then they have to honour it providing they have them in stock.

Seems a bit cheeky of them, especially if they took your money.

Phoning them usually won't work - a letter or email is your best bet, as it gives them time to read it and respond, rather than just getting fobbed off on the phone.

Check to see what their T&Cs say first.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I think what she's saying is that the shoes were in the 50% off bit, but are now only back at FULL price . . .

She wants to know how they can refuse her sale (after taking her money already) at half price due to stock shortages, but miraculously be able to supply her at full price.

If a company is able to buy a certain number of items at a lower price, then that stock runs out, they only have the items at a higher price.Take it or leave it.

    Their T&Cs say:

    4. CANCELLATION
ALDO reserves the right, in its discretion, to limit quantities, terminate accounts and to refuse or cancel any order, including after the order has been submitted, whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged. In the event that your order is cancelled after your payment has been processed, ALDO will issue a full refund.

Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

    Thanks for your replies everyone.

However I have just called them - their customer service line doesn't open until 12. How lazy is that?

Anyway apparently although these items are now listed as being in stock at a higher price. In actual fact they are sold out but they can't remove them from the website. So even if I reordered at the full price my order would be cancelled as the shoes they are advertising now don't exist - apart from the one pair.

I'm not sure if this makes me happier or not. Because now there's no chance of me getting them and I might cry.

Oh how I wish shoes weren't so important!

No I just have to worry about what shoes to wear to my job interview tomorrow as I was planning on wearing my new ever so sensible job interview shoes that I'm now not getting!

Look on the bright side - the shoes were probably really, really uncomfortable and would have distracted you from the interview. Now you can wear some comfy shoes and get the job!

    Good luck.

Get your facts straight - they open at 12pm UK time and its 6am USA time. they are NOT based in the UK. so therefore they are NOT lazy!!!

regardless its out of stock or not, u are getting a full refund. Try ofxord street (bond street tube) branch if u are in london as they will most defo have it at the same price, but maybe not as cheap as online. Some boots i bought online were in the sale in store just not as cheap.
  • I have just had a frustrating experience with Aldo online - I tried to buy some boots - I entered my card details - and they said they were incorrect. I repeatedly entered them - and eventually they said my card was invalid and they could not place my order. The next day my bank rang me to say that Aldo had taken £153 from my account twelve times - and they had put a block on my card to prevent them from taking any more money. I then spent 2 days trying to get the money back. I e-mailed all day long - and about 5 p.m. someone replied. They told me they had blocked my card - and if I wanted to order the boots I would have to phone their Customer Service number. The good thing is - it is free - the bad thing - they never reply. I left messages for 2 days - and then gave up. Now I know their footwear is uncomfortable I am quite glad.
