How do I cancel contract

ok, finally I can cancel my t mobile contract on the 26th March - they told me to phone them. I want to be 100% sure the cancellation goes through, is there a better way to do it (where they can't deny the phone call took place)? Also how can I keep the phone number and is it possible to switch it to PAYG 02 (or anything else you may recommend)
Thank you.
Thank you.

after the phone call they may ask you to put it writing, make sure you post either by recorded delievery or special delievery, that way it can be traced.
Also write to the bank that you pay the debit from ensuring that it is cancelled.
as the phone was a contract one, then it should take any sim card, each pay + go has there good points as well as bad points, 02 is pretty good xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
